Morning Tailgate: NFC West Outlook

Posted by Taylor Price on July 19, 2013 – 11:05 AM

The wait for 49ers football is almost over.

As of Friday morning, the rookies have reported for training camp. The veterans will make their way in town next week.

But before the grind of camp begins on Thursday, July 24, the biggest question surrounding all four teams in the NFC West was examined by Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.

For the 49ers, finding a No. 2 wideout to start opposite of Anquan Boldin stands as the biggest storyline to track according to the NFL scribe.

In addition to wide receiver, intense competitions are set to take place at nose tackle and free safety. Camp is right around the corner, but for now, previewing the depth of the various position groups seems to be the common thread in today’s Morning Tailgate.

Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com examined the tight ends and receivers on the 49ers roster.

Mike Sando of ESPN.com discussed the elite players in the NFC West.

NFL.com now has the 49ers facing the Ravens in the “Greatest Uniform” of all-time tournament.

49ers.com previewed the safety competition set to take place at camp.

Our latest Cover 2 segment discussed the Vernon Davis-led tight end group.

well except for his(wright) dui arrest was last week in l a ? that could have him suspended for some games this year ……….and the bucs must have absolutly no faith in him trading him to a rival nfc team, id read that as we’ll take any offer cuz we were going to cut him, but we wont know what “conditional late round pick” means untill they release the specifics probably a 7 th or 6th…still low risk/high potential reward type move, and cheap too.. ty harbalke

Steel sharpens steel. How about all those receivers going up against all these CBs. The slot especially is going to be a busy place,

Philosophy misapplied is an excellent means by which one can delude themselves into ignoring what is right in front of their face.

Everything Phatalerror says is contingent on Kaepernick having a bad season this year. No matter what is said, Error is somone who will always have an excuse to save themself.

As we all realize a QB,s can have the great stats through out his career, this comparison thing that is going on in this blog site is for people that are crying about there QB. And all the talk about who is elite, bottom line is who has RINGS and who don’t.
Just read a report that Kap, s number 7 jersey is the number 1 seller for NFL jersey’s.

Not only do we have Kap–we have Colt McCoy, who could start for a number of teams in the league. At the most important position in sports the 49ers have the best situation in the league. The staff has done a fantastic job positioning this team for the long term as well as winning right now.

right on moose….right on….he will bash this kid all year…he wants him to fail..so i say to him blahblashblah what kind of fan r u? who wishs his team to fail? and don’t u love how he twist what u say in a post…fact kap. won 2 playoff games and his beloved alex won 1 that is FACT! he puts this big twist of words to make it sound like alex worked harder for his ONE playoff win….give me a break….dave g schools him everytime…..fact is blahblahblah doesn’t want the niners to win….we all see the big picture that is the niners r setting themselves up for the next 10 years….the r back to the team to beat again….it’s awesome!!!

There is a story out in the sports media about the read option it and as expected it mentioned the way the 49er used it and the danger it exposes to the QB, s that run it, Roman basically said that you have to be smart when to use it so am going to leave it at that am sure a lot you have read the story and have your own thoughts about it, GO 49ERS

Blahblahblah is not a fan, paraphrasing he said he would root against them winning hte SB so he could say he told us so. Anyone that just wants to be able to say I told you so is not a fan of the team.

I would sure be rooting for Alex to win a super “IF” he were still our QB, but he is not and Kaep. is the future!! Waawaawaa is rooting for them to go 8-8…what does that tell you about the A$$hole.

You just have to ignore him/her!!

Moose said it perfectly! “No matter what is said, Error is somone who will always have an excuse to save themself.”

    Very True Dat!
