MT: Joe Staley Temporarily Sidelined

Posted by Taylor Price on May 29, 2013 – 11:25 AM

The 49ers starting left tackle was not practicing at Organized Team Activities on Tuesday. Joe Staley was in attendance, but not participating in the two-hour workout.

After the open OTA session, Jim Harbaugh informed reporters that Staley had a minor procedure done this offseason.

Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reported it was a minor meniscus tear in Staley’s left knee.

Staley went to Twitter to alleviate any concerns from the team’s fan base.

“Procedure I had this offseason was very minor but necessary,” Staley wrote. “I will be 100 percent and better than ever by training camp.”

More 49ers headlines can be found in today’s Morning Tailgate.

Kevin Lynch of the San Francisco Chronicle noted Anquan Boldin’s sharp play.

Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News shared LaMichael James’ confident quotes on becoming a return specialist.

Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee offered notes from the OTA session.

Maiocco talked to Kendall Hunter about the running back’s injury rehab.

49ers.com caught up with Vernon Davis, James and shared notes from the OTA workout.

Collector’s item, for sure.

I think we need to clearly define the JH injury speak
    1) “The guy is growing at an amazing rate and will be a major contributor in this league”
TRANSLATION: He is healthy as can be but will never see the field even if we are up by 50
2)“He’s healthy as can be and feels great”
TRANSLATION: He is injured but can play, likely a shoulder
    3)“He’s working through some stuff.”
TRANSLATION: He’s injured, possibly requiring surgery later, but can play asuming we shoot him full of painillers
    4) “He’s going to miss some time but he’s an amazing worker and healer, he’ll be back soon”
    TRANSLATION: Out for the year
5)“He’s got some real challenges ahead of him that we are confident he will work through”
    TRANSLATION: He’s dead
