MT: Lattimore Inspired By Gore

Posted by Taylor Price on May 17, 2013 – 11:36 AM

They’ve just started working together on the 49ers practice fields, but it seems like a perfect mentoring relationship between Frank Gore and Marcus Lattimore.

San Francisco’s four-time Pro Bowl running back and fourth-round pick are hitting it off just fine at 49ers offseason workouts. Although Lattimore is taking a calculated approach in rehabbing his well-documented knee injury, the South Carolina running back has been picking up constant information from Gore, San Francisco’s all-time leading rusher.

“He’s a very detailed guy,” Lattimore said via Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. “You can see why he’s so successful.”

Lattimore and the 49ers are off on Friday. The rookie running back is with a few teammates at the NFL’s Rookie Premiere event in Los Angeles.

Gore and the veterans return to work on Monday. The veteran running back did make glowing statements about the incoming rookie to 49ers.com, too.

Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee updates the latest with San Francisco’s Super Bowl L bid.

Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com raised questions for all 32 clubs this offseason.

49ers.com checked in with Carter Bykowski and Jewel Hampton.

I really hope that Kyle Williams gets a chance too be out there this season. Ya Ya Ya I know he fumbled the punt that made us lose the Championship game against the Giants but and a huge BUT this guy has talent!!! He has worked his arse off the past 2 seasons and would have had a way bigger role once Manningham went down but then Williams went down also. I keep flashing back too Kaep’s coming out party against the Bears where he hit Kyle on that perfect long bomb that Kyle caught close too the sideline and ran for a good 50 yards. Such a graceful catch and run. Plus I feel hell be huge on returning kicks along with James. Good luck Kyle and the rest of the Niner Nation (players, and fans)
Can’t wait for the season too start so we can smash the Packers. (I live 30 min from Lambeau Field) BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! I need too move!!!!!!!

This is not a surprise. Frank Gore is the best possible mentor Marcus Lattimore could have asked for. Not only has he been in the exact same places, he’s also an incredible inspiration; for any football player or fan.

How many running backs were drafted before Frank Gore? Wow….

The 5 RBs drafted before Frank Gore: Brown, Cedric Benson, Cadillac Williams, J.J. Arrington and Eric Shelton

amazing how far he slipped in that draft to us,do you think those teams that drafted rbs ahead of frank wish they hadnt?

and now lattimore is ours ….wow

I can’t express how much I like Kyle as a reciever. Many say he is a good kick returner. That he is. One of the best. However (I might be wrong, I’m not a coach I am a garbageman) I see Kyle making a huge impact as a receiver this year. I think he had two character building years. Not great ones. But he is a worker and I know he has the ability. He will be a nice compliment to Crabtree this year. The best is yet to come from Williams. I will be proudly wearing his shirt in the stands this year. last year at Candlestick.

I am sooo excited for the season to begin. Kaep has such a great arm. Can’t wait to see the offense Harbaugh and Roman put in for him. Someone several days ago asks about Kaep and if he can be a pocket QB.

You watch…that is what they will come out with and it will be their base offense. Everything else will come off of that.

IF, Crabs and Boldin both stay healthy this year they will both get 1,000yds. with Kaep throwing to them!! You heard it here first!!

i love reading your post dave g…..blahblahblah is old news….it’s the same bs every post…..the defense gave up more points cuz of kap going 3 and out mre than alex….say what? they had more punts and 3 and out with alex who r u kidding…bottom line when the niners got down we all felt like alex would struggle to lead a come back but with kap. u can just feel it…he will do something to spark a come back….thats the differance in alex and kap….u don’t hold your breath when kap. has the ball u feel IT! the defense played better in 2011 if the d played as good as they did in 2011 and gave kap. the field positon alex got the offense would have put up even bigger numbers…alex got the ball on the other side of the 50 more than any other qb in 2011…llike it’s beeen said over and over alex is GONE!!!!.
