49 in 49: ACC Week

Posted by Taylor Price on April 1, 2013 – 11:17 AM

Our annual pre-draft series marches on with a look at the top prospects hailing from the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The ACC was competitive as ever in 2012 with Florida State taking home the conference crown. The Seminoles were also dominant in the BCS Orange Bowl, beating Northern Illinois 31-10. FSU capped an impressive 12-2 record that saw them finish as the nation’s No. 10 overall team in the AP’s final Top 25 rankings.

Another ACC power, the Clemson Tigers, were one spot behind FSU in the final poll. The talented team posted an 11-2 mark in a season capped with a 25-24 Chick-Fil-A Bowl win over Louisiana State.

Although the Seminoles and Tigers were the only ACC schools to notch double-digit win totals last season, the conference stands to once again produce several NFL prospects.

In 2012, the 49ers selected former Wake Forest guard Joe Looney with the No. 117 overall pick in the draft. The fourth-rounder was inactive for every game of his rookie season behind a talented offensive line group, but Looney remained positive about the experience and shared insight on his experiences with his 49ers.com rookie blog updates.

With 14 selections in the upcoming NFL Draft, which ACC player would you like to see the 49ers target in 2013? Leave your thoughts in the comments section of this post.

DeAnrde Hopkins — A strong, big bodied, hands catching, play making wide receiver to pair with Michael Crabtree for the next 10 years. #GoNiners #GoldBlooded.

Not sure if you know this, but currently our WR depth outside of Michael Crabtree, consist of Anquan Boldin (32), AJ Jenkins (Bust), Mario Manningham (ACL/PCL), and Kyle Williams (ACL)…Sure looks like we could use some help to me, Justin.
