Morning Tailgate: New Stadium Sales

Posted by Alex Espinoza on March 11, 2013 – 11:12 AM

The new Santa Clara Stadium site has been humming for nearly 11 months, along with the ticket sales for the inaugural 2014 season. Mike Rosenberg of the Bay Area News Group reported that the future home of the 49ers is roughly 75 percent sold out already.

“Riding high off a Super Bowl run, the San Francisco 49ers have sold three-fourths of the seats at the new Silicon Valley stadium as the team prepares to transfer a huge cash infusion to the public agency building the stadium,” Rosenberg wrote. “Undeterred by huge price increases over Candlestick Park tickets, fans and corporations have bought $403 million worth of seats, — equal to the cost spent to build the stadium so far — and the Niners are well ahead of schedule to sell out before the 2014 opening, the team said Friday.”

The rest of today’s Morning Tailgate looks at the new Santa Clara Stadium, upcoming free agency and more.

Rosenberg shared information on how to purchase a brick which will be used to build the new Santa Clara Stadium.

Ira Boudway of BusinessWeek.com examined the sales and how they affect the local economy.

Elizabeth Newman of Sports Illustrated listed 49ers co-chair Denise DeBartolo York as one of America’s most powerful women in sports.

Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle spoke to Delanie Walker about overcoming a family tragedy after the Super Bowl.

Tim Kawakami of the Bay Area News Group analyzed the previous impact of NFL free agents.

Nate Davis of USA Today looked at free agency needs for the NFC West.

49ers.com presented the Top 5 plays of 2012 and encouraged the 49ers Faithful to vote for their favorite and our 49 in 49 pre-draft series continued with a look at Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson and LSU CB Tyrann Mathieu.

Pay it forward.

getting boldin for such a cheap price almost makes me think we are going to be moving up in the draft..we have our complimentary wide-out to go along with crabtree,,with the re-signing of ian williams the 49ers believe they have a guy who can take sopoaga’s place on the d-line,,which might mean we are going to get a safety or a corner in the top 15 of the draft,,,wow,,,,IN HARBAUGH WE TRUST

Wow… Boldin for a 6th round pick is unbelievable. Jim must have got the family discount from John. Crab and Boldin – nice. Where do you put your shut down CB? Which one do you try to take away? Unreal.

always liked boldin…was a stud on cardinals and all he did was make the ravens a super bowl champ…..they r beside themselves in baltimore….boldin for a 6th pick…..as far as harvin he does alot but he comes with alot of baggage…head case…take bolden over him anytime….niners got that tough mean wr….love it!!!

YES,,,mfkram im with you all the way,,baalke and harbaugh should go full court press to get cribbs,he shouldnt demand that big of a contract,,man this is going to be a great off-season and draft,,great teams on paper are one thing, but the 49ers are a great team with personal,,execution and talent,,they are NOT just a great team on paper and have got to be one of the top 3 favorites to win the super bowl this year,,,IN HARBAUGH WE TRUST

and the seahawks trading 3 picks for a wr including ur first pick hmmmm. thats bad they are getting deperate to beat us, funny thing is they could have had boldin for way less, and boldin has exp playing against us from being with the cards, but hes older and in last year of contract ?

harbuagh having coached in college while some of these guys in the draft were playing is gonna help us again, this is a deep draft, only thing is how the hell do 14 rookies even make this team they wont, so make some great picks for us this year find us guys who have the potentail to be one of the best at their position, like p willis awesome pick

see ace with all the picks they set up for years to come…this is were baalke is a great gm…he makes moves to keep picks for the next 3 years of drafting…thery dont need all these picks so trade picks this year for draft picks next year and so on…proably trade out at least 5 for futrue years….now lets go get cribbs….

  21. By mfkram64 on Mar 12, 2013 | Reply

i think they have two more surprise moves….just a hunch…i still can’t believe they landed bolden…see that ahole sherman cover bolden this year…light him up 100 and 2 td’s…bolden is that solid tough rec…like a lb….i got one of my wishes a big tough soild wr…crabs and these wr’s will learn with him he is a leader…

I am loving the Boldin trade, he will definitely be a nice addition to the 49ers. I was hoping for a fast, speedy receiver that could take the top off of a defense but you can’t go wrong with one of the best possession receivers in the NFL. And of course we do have AJ on the team still, so maybe he developes over the summer and becomes more of a fixture on the offense. If that happens our offense will just be scarey good.

got the wr…now i’ve been pushing for a vet. d-line guy..i like uimenyiroa and seymour even harrison of coarse if price is right….but anyone of these guys to me can bring it….put the next move they will land cb smith from miami dave g’s guy…than cribbs and they will have addressed needs.. than draft day..go get d-line,safety and cb for youth and future….

    Look out for THE 49ERS…..

  25. By 11yearswithalex on Mar 12, 2013 | Reply

do not forget about the alex trade …..as well as the hawks and rams looking to take us down ….next season will have to be all new and the niners have to be ready to react and surge and not fall flat on huge games or rather just one …….the superbowl …..worst display from a niner team in superbowl ever ….what happens after that loss is of no concern now the niners are just a regualr team trying to win a season and hopefully try and win a superbowl, if the staff can prepare better than last time ….

  26. By ace on Mar 12, 2013 | Reply

would someone stick a sock in his mouth 11years with no brain” the niners are just a regualr team trying to win a season” wtf are you watching, stupid raiders fan shhhh……….go niners
