49ers Sign LB Stupar to Practice Squad

Posted by Taylor Price on January 8, 2013 – 9:00 AM

The San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed LB Nate Stupar to the practice squad.

Stupar (6-2, 240) was originally drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the seventh round (230th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. He was signed to the team’s practice squad following training camp and later released on September 12. Stupar then signed with the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad on November 19, and spent the remainder of the regular season with the Eagles.

A 24-year old native of State College, PA, Stupar played at Penn State, where he appeared in 52 games (16 starts) and registered 205 tackles, five sacks, four interceptions, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and 12 passes defensed, in his career. Stupar’s brother, Jonathan, played for the Buffalo Bills from 2009-2010, and his uncle, Jeff Hostetler, spent 15 seasons in the NFL.

I think we are spending too much time talking about the super bowl…. Lets take care of business against the packers first before we keep talking about winning the super bowl….. A little bit of “cart before the horse” for my taste. Just saying…. btw…GO NINERS

I don’t know what you’re writing about when you said “were gonna loose.”

“were” is the past tense of “are” so I believe you must be talking about something wherein you’re coupling a past tense (“were”) with a future tense (“gonna”) which makes absolutely no sense at all. Then, you hang a word on the end of this phrase (“loose”) which is an adjective which means the opposite of “tight”. Now, since an adjective modifies a noun, and there is no noun for this particular adjective to modify, those of us attempting to decode this phrase have absolutely no idea what you mean.

By the looks of it, he played with Bowman at Penn State. Imagine another catch like Bowman? Another great work ethic at incredible set of ambitions? Trent, you have a knack to snag superstars.

Kyle B, I like your optimism. It is a nice polar opposite to Bob’s negative incoherence.
FYI Bob, The Packers don’t stand a chance.

Hey davey g, 49erdefense dude what kind of fan base do you have?? i mean that 49er faithful fan “Bob” is a “loser” i am a know hawk fan here but i say the niners have a 75% chance to win this game. If J.Smith plays and the D holds the pack to 24pts or less the 49ers pull out a close one by 3-7pts. I want the niners to win so my hawks who should beat atl can play a third and final game for the right to go to the Super Bowl. Go niners!

We are not going to win with our weak defense, who is now 11th in the league and with Kaepernick. We might beat Greenbay, but there is no way we are going to beat Seattle, nor Atlanta. Next year we are going to give up Alex to another team, after Harbaugh molded and trained this guy. Many 49er fans have a real bad taste in their mouths about this decision. I think Harbaugh made a mistake. Kaepernick could very well be our future, but for this season he should have stayed with Smith. Superbowl was almost a sure thing. If its not broke, why fix it.

We got Green Bay…..Their O line is very suspect…..as long as we protect the ball, we good!!! People sleeping on us cause we let Seattle get away with that blow out….I wasnt trippin then, and I ain trippin now…..9ers BABY!!!

We can drag Green Bay….Their O line is suspect….as long as we protect the ball, we will win!!!! we’ve been disregarded ever since we let Seattle blow us out….But we back where we want to be….under the radar>>>>Go 9ers!!

Ok..So ive read through this article and the comments and for some reason there are still “so called” Niner Nation Faithfuls that feel that Kaep’ is our achilles heel going into this game. First off people let me say this, regardless of what you think, Coach Harbaugh has more football experience in his pinky toe then half of us can muster up combined. Lets give the man his dues, he is the coach and he makes those decisions. Now i could undestand peoples arguments if we werent winning; but the reality is folks, that even though we would like too, YOU CANT WIN THEM ALL. Kaep is poised and is playing a GREAT game of football in the QB position. Alex Smith had 1 good year and started to have another, but never really shown any significant progress from the previous season. With him under center the play calls were being limited because of the ceiling that he hit. Game Manager is no longer a bad QB reference thanks to Smith. Thank you for your contributions, sir! Now for those “fans” that claim our defense is weak and we lack what it takes to take on Greenbay…hmm, lets take a trip back to Week 1 where we went into there house and showed them what we were about. Everybody was healthy and everybody was there, aside from a banged up Justin Smith, this is the same team that beat them then, and we WILL beat them again. In order to be a TRUE 49er NINER NATION FAITHFUL, you have to have a little thing called FAITH. Look to our past and what we have accomplished. HOF Steve Young wasnt wanted by fans after having a rough or slow start, but proved with his will and determination that he could be the next great thing. Kaep is in the same shoes right now and we have the team behind him to do it. So for those that are speaking negative about the personnel changes and talking down on one of the best defenses in the league, in my opinion THE best, maybe you should follow another team or the team that Alex Smith goes too; or you could sit back and watch as we embark on a new history making journey #Quest4Six #NinerNationFaithful #KaepernickQB #PackerKillaDefense
