The San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed LB Eric Bakhtiari to a two-year contract.
Bakhtiari (6-3, 250) rejoins the 49ers after appearing in three games earlier this season. He spent the 2012 training camp with the 49ers before being released on 8/31.
Bakhtiari has spent time on the practice squads of the Kansas City Chiefs (2010-11), Cleveland Browns (2010), Miami Dolphins (2010), 49ers (2010, 2008), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2009), Tennessee Titans (2009) and the Chargers (2008). He was signed to the Titans active roster on 12/12/09 and played in three games, posting six special teams tackles, in 2009. Bakhtiari was released by the Titans at the end of training camp on 9/4/10. He originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the San Diego Chargers in 2008.
Bakhtiari, a 27-year old native of San Mateo, CA, played at the University of San Diego, where he was a two-time Pioneer League Defensive Player of the Year (2006-07) and three-time first-team All-PFL (2005-07). His head coach in 2006 was 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh.
