Week 15 of the 2011 season was a special one for Daniel Kilgore. Not only did the 49ers claim a dominating 20-3 win over the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers at Candlestick Park, but Kilgore made his NFL debut as a rookie.
That game, however, is also fondly remembered as the night of “Lights Out.” A pair of power outages at the historic stadium led to some delays before the clock struck zeroes for the 49ers victory.

For Kilgore, the memory of that night isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
“I had a couple buddies in town from back home,” Kilgore said. “Then the power went out and they understood the stadium was lot older than they expected. … Hopefully the new stadium will have something better. We’ve got this whole power plant next door so we should be alright.”
Aldon Smith had 2.5 sacks of Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to pace the 49ers on defense, while Vernon Davis had a 1-yard touchdown catch, Frank Gore had a 5-yard touchdown run and David Akers converted a pair of field goals to move the team’s record to 11-3 on the year.
