Morning Tailgate: Oct. 25
Posted by on October 25, 2012 – 11:05 AM
Pro Bowl safety Dashon Goldson has eight interceptions dating back to the beginning of the 2011 season, including last week’s pick against Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks. NFL.com put together a behind-the-scenes, black and white photo gallery of the Week 7 victory for the 49ers at Candlestick Park.
Goldson has maintained his status as one of the game’s most complete safeties in 2012 with his hard-hitting ability and knack for forcing turnovers. Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group wrote that Goldson figures to play a big role in the upcoming Monday Night Football matchup with the Arizona Cardinals.
“His contribution in preventing deep passes, plus his efforts on run defense and punt coverage Thursday, earned him a game ball from coach Jim Harbaugh,” Inman wrote. “Goldson also made a fierce stop on running back Marshawn Lynch that Harbaugh called ‘one of the best front-up tackles I’ve ever seen.’”
Today’s Morning Tailgate also features a look back at Eddie DeBartolo Jr.’s legacy, Delanie Walker’s contributions to the 49ers and more.
A Football Life: Eddie DeBartolo (Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4) premiered on NFL Network Wednesday night, documenting the career of the legendary 49ers owner.
NFL.com also highlighted DeBartolo’s extraordinary career through photos.
Mindi Bach of CSNBayArea.com spoke to Walker about his do-it-all role on the 49ers.
Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com shared the highlights of Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt’s conference call with the Bay Area media.
Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee passed along comments from Arizona CB and punt return specialist Patrick Peterson.
Kyle Bonagura of CBSSports.com highlighted several statistical categories where the 49ers are making their mark.
Dave Feldman of Comcast Sports Net Bay Area quizzed Arizona native Kyle Williams about his home state before the 49ers head to the desert.
NFL.com showcased the best sights and sounds from in between the lines in Week 7.
49ers.com’s daily coverage included a look at Jesse Sapolu’s upcoming book signing at the 49ers team store in Palo Alto (5-7 on Saturday night and from 12-5 on Sunday, and a round up of conference calls with Whisenhunt and Peterson.

so i ahve allready rewrote several reasons and they went poof so will muster up and try again tomorrow to finish up the why alex can not win us a superbowl ….and for shame after all these years not realizeing that the QB is average at best

although one thing that everyone keeps harping on …why is alex here ??????….only reason is no other teams want him and he keeps signing for garbage since he allready got millions for nothing …yes not 1 team will take alex not one team will trade or sing alex in freeagency …..that should tell you the whole story there …i mean even mike vick got another shot for big money and even mcnabb was workiong his way around the league ….alex knows if he leaves the niners he will be retired since not one team will take him …the coaches use him because he must either talk a great game or becuase he is tall and throws with pop for 5 yards ….what ever the reason several coaches have hitched their wagons to alex and got nothing …harbaugh will soon find out …even sooner since all of you and him and the media and the hotdog vendor all said well with all these new weapons we should be better than last year ….and no we are still the same team maybe even a little bit worse because we are expecting the offense to be better and it is flat like alex QBing

double down for shame on me the team worked the running game for several yards and secured the win …..but answer me this and i am sure you all know this and have seen it and prob commented on it ..maybe not here but to your friends and relatives ………..
By 11yearswithalex on Oct 25, 2012 | Reply
why does the offense shut down after even a 3 point lead …..why does the playcalling go to 3and outs rather than try and score again ….why do we run 3 straight times in the red zone and take a field goal instead of going for a TD….why does the offense sputter when we are down by even 3 points ……answer that question honestly please and you shall find your own solution as did i

I think you guy’s are harder on 11years than he is on Smith haha. Why do you guys care so much what he has to say? Everyone has their own opinions. Personally i love all my Niners and think Smith has done a good job. But there are at least 6 QB’s in the league that would make this Niner team 500% better than they are now with A. Smith. So what I’m trying to say is ya there might be better options out there but Smith is our guy. If you cheer on the Niners cheer for the whole team. GO NINERS GO GIANTS. Who has it better than S.F. right now? NOOOOOOBODY!!

niners have been in the gutter for a long time and i believe for no other reason but some bad choices and few other things ….that kept the niners the same …trying to do the west coast …trying to be a finesse team…..then trying in a year and a half to be smash mouth hard core ….i for one am tired of the niners loseing to good teams for lack of offense it is so sad to watch …i mean haveing to watch all those bandwagon giant fans at sandlestick prance around because the niners were so flat on offense …..because of how they attacked alex and he could not cope ……so tired of those losses ….really the playoffs last year were a joke there is no way joe or steve would have let that happen …and that is one of my problems alex has no get up and go he sits there and checks down and waits for the other guys to do something ….instead of saying hey lets do this and if you slack get off the field id rather throwe to the punter than a over paid lack luster receiver …..i bet we would have won that game if alex grew a pair and wooped the giants in the playoffs ….right now they own him and always will …and they stand betweeen us and the superbowl …so watch all the wins and all the hopeful fist pumps and cheers yet alex …will fall to the giants again and the fans will have to endure another 2 more years of that why they still put alex at the helm in a loseing cause ….even after 7 years of it ….man alex must have the gift of gab …didnt he go to law school……i bet he was top on his debate team ….dude can talk his way into cash but not to a superbowl

J-11: No you’ve been in the gutter for a long time, My Niners have NEVER been in the gutter, we had some losing season … But we have NEVER been in the gutter!
By temper11 on Oct 26, 2012 | Reply
Thanks for the response 11years… It took a while, and for a bit I didn’t think you were going to get around to answering my question, “If he is so bad, why is he still here”, but you did. You believe, if I can paraphrase this correctly, that AS is still here because he can talk a good game and nobody else wants him.
So therefore, the niners are sticking with AS, resigning him when they simply could have turned him loose to free agency and been rid of him forever, because they feel sorry for him that no one else will want him? His feelings out weigh the good of their organization and the perceived happiness of their fans.
Furthermore, they realize that absolutely anyone else will boost their offense, but they keep rolling him out under center because he has “the gift of gab”.
That’s your position? Got it. Thanks, I really didn’t understand how you came to your conclusions logically, but now it’s perfectly clear to me.

“niners have been in the gutter for a long time”
you/we gotta quit responding to him, our team has never been in the gutter, this just shows that is not and has never been a Niners fan! Losing seasons does equal being in the gutter!!
Show your pride in our team, and quit responding to J-11!
Where I come from those are fighting words!!!!

What J-11? I don’t understand your question rjd?
By 9erdog on Oct 26, 2012 | Reply
Okay, rjd, I understand, just that it had me looking sideways!
Niners have never been a gutter team, and to say that is just disrespectful! BUT you are right. No more …!
Could he say that to any true fan here, or any player for that matter?

This is a blog. Eleven writes Novels that bore you to even begin to even want to read but you know in all those rediculously lengthly words you just know he is basically just saying he hates Alex, so he just continues to waste his time. HA!
