Andy Lee Named NFC ST POW
Posted by on October 24, 2012 – 9:31 AM
For the second time of his nine-year career with the San Francisco 49ers, three-time All-Pro and Pro Bowl punter Andy Lee has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Lee’s five-punt performance in a Week 7 win over the Seattle Seahawks was crucial to San Francisco’s 13-6 win. Lee’s punts averaged 45.6 yards (44.6 yards net) and included a 66-yard punt late in the fourth quarter to pin Seattle on their own 11-yard line.
It was Lee’s fourth punt downed inside Seattle’s 20-yard line on the evening and was easily the most crucial to the 49ers claiming sole possession of first place in the NFC West.
Lee continues his consistent play after breaking the NFL’s net punting average last season with a 44.0 net average. He’s currently averaging a net of 41.9 in 2012 and is averaging 47.5 yards per punt on the year.
Vote for Andy Lee to make the 2013 Pro Bowl.

Many of us getting frustrated, Alex Smith is myopic when it comes to Randy Moss. In the Giants game he didn’t see Moss streaking down field with his hand up against single coverage. Then the last one against the Seahawks and instead he throws a pick. I am sure he has missed others. No doubt the rest of the league has noticed Smith and Roman won’t throw dowfield to Moss and have adjusted their coverages. At least he should attempt it at least one time per half, to let them know they aren’t afraid to try. But, now they know, the Giants figured it out and started to jump routs.
