This marks the second consecutive season that the 49ers and Packers have met in Week 1. Last season, San Francisco defeated Green Bay in two contests, 30-22 on the road in Week 1, and 45-31 at home in the NFC Divisional round of the playoffs. The 49ers overall record against the Packers is 28-34-1, including 17-11-1 at home.

The overall series is tied at 14 games apiece, but under head coach Jim Harbaugh, the 49ers are 3-1 versus Seattle. The teams split the 2012 series, with each team winning on their home field.

The overall series is split at 62-62-3, and 31-31-1 on the road. Both contests last season went into overtime, with the Rams winning, 16-13, in St. Louis, and the teams tying, 24-24, in San Francisco.
  • Sun., Oct. 06, 2013 5:30PM - 8:30PM PDT 49ers vs. Texans San Francisco faces the Houston Texans on Sunday night October 6, in front of a national audience on NBC. It marks the third prime time appearance through the first five weeks of the regular season for the 49ers. This will be only Houston’s second trip ever to Candlestick Park in the regular season, and their first since the 49ers won 20-17 in overtime, in 2005.
  • Sun., Oct. 13, 2013 1:25PM - 4:25PM PDT 49ers vs. Cardinals The second game of the back-to-back home-stand will be on October 13 vs. the Arizona Cardinals. San Francisco owns a 26-17 overall record against the Cardinals, including a 15-8 mark at home. In the 2012 regular season finale, San Francisco won 27-13, clinching the NFC West Division title for the 19th time in franchise history. The Niners have compiled a 7-1 record versus Arizona over the past eight games.

Jed York Named to Fortune’s 40 Under 40

With success both on and off the field rampant for the San Francisco 49ers, CEO Jed York has received recognition for his recent contributions to the five-time Super Bowl champion organization.

With a winning record in 2012 and a new Santa Clara Stadium project well underway, the 49ers CEO has been selected for his second prestigious business award in as many years.

After being named to the Forty Under 40 list by The Sports Business Journal in March of 2012, York has now been selected to Fortune’s annual list of the 40 hottest young business stars under 40.

The 49ers CEO ranks No. 39 on the list.

“Before you knock York for being the son of the team’s owners, consider this: Last season, the 49ers’ head coach, Jim Harbaugh, and GM Trent Baalke were both in their first year, both put in place by the young former Guggenheim Partners analyst, and the team made the playoffs for the first time since 2002,” wrote Fortune’s Daniel Roberts. “Harbaugh, whom York had to woo in a scrutinized public process, gelled with QB Alex Smith and got Coach of the Year. Off the field, York hired Gideon Yu, former CFO of Facebook, to be the team’s president, and secured fat financing for the construction of a new $850 million stadium, set to finish in 2014.”

York most recently announced the team’s excitement to play in the NFL’s 2013 International Series game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“The 49ers are excited and privileged to once again serve as ambassadors for the NFL and the game of football internationally,” York said in a release issued by the team. “Our 2010 experience in London was tremendous. The atmosphere at Wembley Stadium on game day was electric. The ability for us to share 49ers football with our Faithful fans internationally is a treat for everyone in our organization.”

    Thanks York, you’ve made a difference for this team the day you thought Harbaugh would be a nice fit for the Niners.
