49ers Host Red and Gold Rally

Posted by Jacob Most on September 13, 2012 – 3:39 PM

San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York thanked the sizeable crowd that showed up to Wednesday’s first ever Red and Gold Rally. York spoke on the stage at Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco to help inspire passion from the team’s Faithful fans.

The event helped build fan excitement ahead of the team’s home opener against the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football.

York was impressed by the thousands of Faithful Fans, who made the journey to support the team on Wednesday. He also mentioned the road support the 49ers received at Lambeau Field last Sunday. The 49ers CEO said he was anticipating an even more electric atmosphere for when the 49ers take the field this weekend at home.

“It’s great to see everybody out here today,” York said in a speech captured on YouTube. “I love everybody in the all red… We had a great environment in Green Bay because we had some Niners fans there. We had people wearing their red jerseys.

“We’re going to blow that away this weekend. We can’t wait to see you all out there on Sunday night. We want to make sure that Candlestick Park is the most intimidating atmosphere in the National Football League.”

Gold Rush cheerleaders, Sourdough Sam, Niner Noise and a prominent 49ers alumni took the stage and thrilled the many fans in attendance.

The live performances from the Gold Rush and Niner Noise set the festive mood. Fans also took part in contests and giveaways to go along with chances to take photos and get autographs from some of their favorite 49ers legends like Guy McIntyre, Eason Ramson, Randy Kirk, J.J. Stokes, Willie Harper, and Jesse Sapolu. Each fan received a Red and Gold Rally towel, too.

Wearing his own red 49ers polo shirt, York announced the grand opening of the new Shop 49ers mobile retail trailer, which will operate in the Plaza on weekdays throughout the football season.

Fans in attendance were given special discount codes at Shop 49ers as a show of the team’s appreciation for its Faithful supporters.

Just like any 49ers fan though, York was looking ahead to the home-opener.

“I want to make sure that everybody understands we are here to get better one day at a time,” the 49ers CEO said. “Just because we had a big win last week doesn’t guarantee anything next week. So please make sure you come out there, give us as much support as possible.”

I wonder if we get to commit two clips on a punt return, that results in a touchdown this week, seeing we are playing at home?
