Posted by Taylor Price on August 29, 2012 – 12:11 PM

The San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed DT Matthew Masifilo to a two-year contract. The team also announced it has waived C Chase Beeler.

Masifilo (6-3, 280) originally signed with San Francisco as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford on May 5, 2012, and was later released on August 27.

Beeler (6-3, 285) signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent from Stanford on July 27, 2011, and spent the entire 2011 season on the team’s practice squad.

slowey got hurt early in off season mini’s and couldnt get healthy, signing leonard davis sealed slowey’s fate, and masifilo will add great depth at the NT spot

  11. By As far as the off line is concerned I would like to see Leonard Davis start the last preseason game and see what happens.rjdniner on Aug 30, 2012 | Reply

There have been a lot of coaches in the past that brought there collage player’s with them to the pros some make it some don’t, and if the coaching staff want to sign more player’s from Stanford why not , me am going to kick back and enjoy it … GO 49ER,S

Signing a player to a contract must be contingent on the player making the final cut, because I have been seeing quite a few players signed to contracts only to be cut a few days to a few weeks later.

If that be the case they should have kept Slowey for Center if they going to do this cause now I have no idea who’s the backup center and that’s hardest position on the O-line.
