Morning Tailgate: July 13

Posted by Scott Kegley on July 13, 2012 – 10:07 AM

No need to fear on this Friday the 13th, 49ers left tackle Joe Staley announced via twitter that his hit TV49 show, The Joe Show, would be returning for the 2012 season.

Will fans be treated to more sing-a-long episodes? More episodes about end zone dance moves? Or maybe Staley will get suited up like he did in one of my favorite episodes, The Joe Show: High School Prom. Stay tuned to 49ers.com find out.

Jim Rome spoke with 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs about his decision to join the 49ers, playing with Randy Moss and his first impressions of Jim Harbaugh.

“Coach Harbaugh is the man,” Jacobs told Rome. “He talks about more than just football. Coach Harbaugh is not coach Harbaugh, coach Harbaugh is my teammate.”

Niners Nation has the full story on the young boy who appeared on stage with Vernon Davis and Patrick Willis at the ESPYS. Jimmy Murphy, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, was wearing a Make-A-Wish Foundation pin when Davis spotted him outside the ESPYS. The 49ers tight end is very active with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and invited Murphy to sit with him during the show.

CSNBayArea.com’s Matt Maiocco answered questions from fans, urging them not to expect too much from the 49ers rookie class this season. With a talented roster already, Maiocco believes the rookie who could have the biggest impact in 2012 is running back LaMichael James.

Maiocco writes: “I’m still of the opinion that Kendall Hunter is the 49ers’ second-best running back behind Frank Gore. But the 49ers would not have selected the dynamic James if they did not envision a role for him as a rookie.”

NFL.com revealed their 2012 fantasy football player rankings. If you’re interested in setting up your own league, register at the new 49ers-branded fantasy leagues on NFL.com.

SI.com reported that federal investigators shut down up to 70 websites selling fake NFL jerseys. One place you’re assured of getting authentic NFL merchandise is Shop49ers.com, which has a wide selection of 49ers jerseys.

just so you are not lonely, i will post with ya, if boone can keep defenders away for 1 whole minute, maybe Alex will be confident enough to let it fly?

Careful #1 Defense 2012, I think Jeromy is trying to cheat on Eleven Years by flirting with you. I think he thinks you roll that way.

Jeromy If it takes that def that long to get to Alex , THAT’S WHAT YOU CALL A SH-TY DEF just give the ball to frank and let him have fun .and beside the guys up front won’t even brake a sweat . And when he doses throw it to one of our receivers its 6 points.

dashon goldson said today that he and the 49ers “are a long way off” on signing a new long term deal. the guy has said he will play under the franchise tag and will report to training camp on time, lets just hope that not having a long term deal in place wont affect his play on the field

  18. By # 1 D-FENSE 2012 on Jul 14, 2012 | Reply

sometimes guys who play on a “lame duck contract” play too tenetivley,or play in a fashion as not to get hurt. new contracts tend to get a players 100% effort, and guys without a long term deal tend to think that the team has lost interest in them as players and their play reflects that. I hoping dashon goldson will be a consumate professional and honor his deal and play to the high standards that have been set by this defense

  19. By rjdniner on Jul 14, 2012 | Reply

Me as a fan I do not want to see replacement referees and if they can’t get that contract worked out that what’s going to happen, hopefully they’ll get it done, befor e preseason

Often the more money & fame they get the more trouble they get into. Man I hope the stab incident with Aldon is the last. They need to really keep an eye on him & have some good talks with him becuase he is too valuable a talent.
