49ers to Hold National Anthem Auditions

Posted by Scott Kegley on May 29, 2012 – 6:14 PM

The San Francisco 49ers are looking for some talented local singers to perform the national anthem at 2012 home games.

In recent years, Huey Lewis and the News, Brian McKnight and several American Idol stars have kicked off games at Candlestick with their renditions of the “Star-Spangled Banner.” If you would like the opportunity to perform this season, submit your application online.

All applicants must register by June 22 and submit the following:

  • A video of your national anthem performance
  • A 5″x7″ head shot

Finalists will be selected on July 13 and required to perform a live audition on July 21 from 1-4 p.m. in the Celebration Plaza of California’s Great America Theme Park.

In order to showcase local talent, the audition is open only to current or former Bay Area residents.

Please consider me. I have lived in Sacramento County my whole life. i have been a 49ers fan since 1972. i have never changed teams. I have ALWAYS kept my version of The National Anthem to under 90 seconds. i am typically between 78 and 85 seconds. i have NEVER gone over 90 seconds. I have sang The Nationa Anthem for the Sacramento Kings on 12/10/2010. The RiverCats on 5/12/10. I caught West Nile Virus that turned into Virul Meningitis from a mosquito bite in 2011 and had to cancel my RiverCats night to sing on 8/26/12. Prior to 2010 I have never sang The National Anthem in public. I feel i perform The National Anthem better than my first time on this video. Please help make my drean come true. Thank you very much for your consideration. p.s. I do not know where to include the photo

I wished I was a resident or former resident.. It has been my dream to sing at a ball park, and this would have been perfect since the.49ers has been my number one team since 1983.

Please consider the Central Valley (Merced). We are huge Niner fans and since we have nothing around here, we consider ourselves local to the bay area and part of the 49er family. This wouldn’t be like including someone from LA, but an often overlooked but very loyal part of CA.

I am the choir director at Santa Clara High School. I think it would be entirely appropriate for the Santa Clara High School Choir to sing the National Anthem at the first game in the new stadium!

We will be happy to send and audio/video recording of our group.

Just think what that would tell the nation about what kind of organization the 49′ers are!

    Sincerely,

    Dave HIbbert
