49ers Add DT Jerod-Eddie

The San Francisco 49ers announced that they have signed DT Tony Jerod-Eddie.

Jerod-Eddie (6-5, 301) starred at Texas A&M, where he played in 51 games (38 starts) for the Aggies and produced 148 tackles, 14.5 TFLs, 7.0 sacks, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. A second-team All-Big 12 pick in 2011, he set career highs in tackles (56), TFLs (7.0), sacks (5.0) and forced fumbles (1).

Jerod-Eddie earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors as a junior, as he started all 13 games and posted 49 tackles, 2.5 TFLs and one blocked kick. In 2009, he recorded 23 tackles, 2.0 TFLs, 1.0 sack and one fumble recovery. During his freshman campaign, Jerod-Eddie posted 20 tackles, 3.0 TFLs, 1.0 sack, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick.

A 22-year-old native of DeSoto, TX, Jerod-Eddie was a two-time first-team all-district defensive line pick (District 8-5A), earned honorable mention 5A all-state honors by the Associated Press and Texas Sports Writer’s Association at DeSoto (TX) HS.

    I knew that the team wouldn’t go into mandatory training with only 1 back-up for the defensive linemen! Looks like a good choice too, might make the squad over some of the others. Keep up the good work, Harbaalke we trust!

    nice addition. maybe with the teaching by sopoaga and mcdonald, jerod-eddie could eventually become a good starter in the league. we needed some younger guys in the middle. the niner coaching staff r one of the best in the league. only time will tell how these young monsters will do. well dunn. niner for life.

    I think Tony Jerod-Eddie will be a good player for the 49er’s. I was kind of hoping the Cowboys or Texans would have picked him up. Good luck Tony!
