49 in 49: Big 12 Week

Posted by Taylor Price on April 9, 2012 – 12:23 PM

It was a competitive 2011 season in the Big 12 conference to say the least.

Four teams won 10 or more games, with the conference-winning Oklahoma State Cowboys leading the way with 12 victories, including a 41-38 overtime Fiesta Bowl win over the Stanford Cardinal.

In addition to Oklahoma State, it was a memorable year for Kansas State, Baylor and Oklahoma. All three programs posted matching 10-3 records.

The top talent from the conference comes into focus this week, as 49ers.com’s “49 in 49” pre-draft series continues with Big-12 Week.

The 49ers currently have seven players with Big 12 playing experience on the roster. Most recently, the 49ers used the No. 7 overall pick in last year’s draft to select Missouri defensive end Aldon Smith. As a rookie, Smith lined up at outside linebacker for the 49ers and led the team with 14.0 sacks, the most by a rookie in team history.

So which Big 12 player has the best chance to land with the 49ers in 2012?

would love to see the niners move up to draft RG3… real difference maker!

Kendall Wright would be a great pick up as well. Legit deep threat!
