49ers Have Big Plans for Playoff Game

Posted by Alex Espinoza on January 10, 2012 – 3:29 PM

The San Francisco 49ers plan to provide a special experience for fans during Saturday’s Divisional Playoff Game at Candlestick Park.

The 49ers host New Orleans at 1:35 p.m. with U.S. Bank FlexPerks & Derby of San Francisco serving as game sponsors. The game is sold out and will be televised nationally on Fox. Fans looking for tickets for Saturday’s game are encouraged to go on to NFL Ticket Exchange powered by Ticketmaster.  To accommodate early patrons, parking lot gates will open at 8:30 a.m.

“There is a reason we call our fans the Faithful and they deserve a home playoff game,” said Director of Marketing Ali Towle. “So, we’re doing everything we can to celebrate their dedication and enthusiasm for this team and this playoff opportunity. Our goal is to make Saturday a lasting memory for our season ticket holders and fans.”

A new and popular feature at Candlestick Park this season is the Grand Plaza. It opens at 10:30 a.m. with live music, various food and beverage options, games for kids, the 49ers Museum and 49ers apparel stores, including a women’s-only shop.

Here are other promotional items fans can enjoy:

EARLY BIRD FANS GET 50% OFF CONCESSIONS
The 49ers want to create the best home field advantage in the NFL. As an incentive for fans to be in their seats by kickoff, many concessions stands at Candlestick Park will offer up to a 50% discount between 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. before Saturday’s game. The offer is good for food and non-alcoholic beverage purchases at the permanent concession stands only. The discount does not apply to the Grand Plaza food trucks or other specialty vendors at Candlestick Park. Fans are encouraged to come early and be loud from kickoff through the final play of the game. Visa is accepted at all Candlestick concessions stands.

RALLY TOWELS FOR ALL FANS
To turn Candlestick Park into a sea of red, all fans will receive a “Who’s Got it Better than Us?” red rally towel as they enter the stadium provided by Derby of San Francisco and U.S. Bank FlexPerks.  In addition U.S. Bank FlexPerks is offering all new FlexPerks Travel Rewards Visa applicants 1,000 FlexPoints for every point the 49ers score in the game as an enrollment bonus.  Visit www.49ersbanking.com for all details.

BAILEY TO ENTERTAIN FANS
San Francisco native Bailey will join the Gold Rush Cheerleaders to kick-off the pregame entertainment. Bailey, who got his start in the music industry by rapping on the streets in the Fillmore District, was inspired by 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh to release “Who’s Got it Better..?” The song has created a YouTube sensation with over 100,000 views in its first week.

HUEY LEWIS AND THE NEWS TO SING NATIONAL ANTHEM
Bay Area iconic rock band Huey Lewis and the News returns to Candlestick Park to perform the national anthem. The group has performed together for three decades selling over 20 million copies. Huey Lewis and the News has won multiple Grammy Awards and wrote and performed “The Power of the Love” and “Back in Time” for the box office hit Back to the Future starring Michael J. Fox. “The Power of Love” was nominated for an Academy Award and reached No. 1 on the charts.

SEAN KINGSTON PERFORMS AT HALFTIME
A rising star on the music scene, Sean Kingston, will delight fans with an energizing halftime performance that features hip-hop, reggae and rhythm and blues tunes. Kingston’s first album produced four top 10 singles and the hit “Beautiful Girls” was one of the fastest rising No. 1 singles in music history. It held the No. 1 spot on the charts for three weeks and topped the charts in 21 countries.

I unfortunately can’t be there either since i live in St.louis I grew up out here with out a football team and fell in love with 9ers and have been a faithful ever since. and were going to win this weekend.

who’s got it better than us?

    Nobody

im pretty sure weve been the underdogs in every big game we had this year, they didnt think we’d beat the lions,or the bucs,or the giants,or the steelers all big offensive teams by the way

  6. By alex_fn_smith on Jan 11, 2012 | Reply

i think like every other game we had this year…this is going to be a low scoring game….and we walk away the winners

  7. By alex_fn_smith on Jan 11, 2012 | Reply

and i love the way everybody thinks we dont have an offense, unbelievable how we still get no respect…whats gonna happen when we win the superbowl…are they gonna say…heh, they just got lucky

  8. By alex_fn_smith on Jan 11, 2012 | Reply

we could have been putting bigger numbers up all year too,but its the west coast offense!!! thats our style,we win with our brains, and controling the tempo of the game

  9. By alex_fn_smith on Jan 11, 2012 | Reply

joe montana wasnt blowing teams away 43-10 all season long,go back and look at the scores they were all close games, and he won 4 superbowls doing it the bill walsh way….f@#$k the saints!

  10. By alex_fn_smith on Jan 11, 2012 | Reply

back when the patriots were actually winning superbowls, they were doing what were doing right now….all close games, brady was controlling the game, like what harbaugh has alex doing right now

  11. By alex_fn_smith on Jan 11, 2012 | Reply

and im not worried about all the yards they put up…they should be worried, whats gonna happen after their receivers catch the ball and were knocking the ball loose

  12. By alex_fn_smith on Jan 11, 2012 | Reply

how is brees supposed to throw the ball with aldon smith and justin smith and mcdonald, brooks and ice lookin to break his ribs,oh yea…were winning this thing

  13. By alex_fn_smith on Jan 11, 2012 | Reply

simple mathmatics….they cant stop our run,we can stop theirs…alex smith wont turn the ball over….brees will. theyre used to playing in a dome, the game will be held in muddy windy weather.FACT:frank gore alone, has more rushing yards than their two running backs combined.FACT:they have allowed an average 21 points per game…we allowed only 14…do the math, and stop disrespecting us and acting like were gonna get blown away

I”m just a 76 year old, little old lady, who has been a 49er fan since the days of Frankie Albert, Y.A. Tittle, Leo Nomelini, and the rest of the early gang. In those days we listened to the games on the radio. The 49ers have always been fighters and the sports writers wrote about them all the time….except for this year.
Why, oh why, are the writers so silent? They talk up all the playoff contenders and don’t mention the 49ers…..

Now, as a little old lady, maybe I don’t understand the politics of sports writing…but it seems to me a lot of those folks ignore the astounding records the team has this year….high marks for defense, high marks for turnovers, high marks for sacking the quarterbacks….and more team members on the pro-bowl team than any other team. The team quietly is working their magic.

Our team has been one that the new generation has not had the pleasure of knowing. We were on the top of the NFL teams in the 80s and 90s, and since then everyone else has forgotten about the niners……BUT THE FAITFUL have never forgotten. This saturday, everyone will once again see our team in a different light, and We will win……and the faithful will say to the rest of the world……we are back and we aint stopping now! GO NINERS!!!!!!!

  20. By seven years with Alex on Jan 12, 2012 | Reply

Well every post has been the same our offense will rock em they only kick field goals and that is the west coast style .,…yeah right …the west coast offense is about scoreing td’s just like anyother. Yet Alex is a very bad playcaller and defense reads are horrible. He is concerned with not getting pulled from the game instead of winning it with his arm. 3 and outs wont go far against the Aints

SEVEN YEARS WITH ALEX, AGAIN YOUR OPINION MEANS NOTHING TO THE TRUE 49ER FAITHFUL. ALEX WILL DO GREAT ON SATURDAY, BOTH OFFENSE AND DEFENSE ARE GOING TO DOMINATE THE GAME. SAINTS HAVE NOT PLAYED A TEAM LIKE OURS AND IN OUR TURF THIS SEASON. THIS IS A NEW TEAM WITH NEW COACHES. ALDON SMITH THE QUARTERBACK CRUSHER AND THE MIGHTY POWERFUL 49ER DEFENSE WILL KEEP THEM BACK. WE HAVE A GREAT ALL-AROUND TEAM.

GO SAN FRANSISCO 49ERS>>>>>>>THE NEXT SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS>>>>>>>6 TIME>>>>>>>

    7 years with alex,

    Joe Montana disagrees with you

Jim Harbaugh (runner up as league MVP as a QB, the first coach to bring a 6-10 team to 13-3) disagrees

The players that have us sitting at a home game after a bye in the playoffs (8 of which are probowlers) disagree

The GM who made it all happen disagrees

    The Fans disagree

    Who are you?

~Ladybug I didn’t know that many of us “oldies” were still around? Kesar Stadium
was quite the little niche. Sports broadcasters are pretty much like the News
people; only what popular and in vogue. The new and improved high powered
offense. The Saints are a good team. Fairly well balanced (but I don’t really
think that they are taking the SF 49ers lightly). My hope is that Alex has an out
standing game (as well as the TEAM). Anybody, whom gets to this point in the
post season deserves to be there. At this level; ANY GIVEN SUNDAY. Let the
    play of the 49ers express just who we are and leave no doubt that on this field;
in this stadium, surrounded by OUR fans, on this day~ the Saints went home
eating HUMBLE PIE!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS IT NINERS WHO’S GOT IT BETTER THAN US?
    NOBODY

Can’t keep up with the Saints???? They scored 23 points against the poorly coached 2010 Niners and squeaked out a 3 point win. Nice to be an underdog and highly motivated. Teams are used to playing high powered offenses this year… but the 49ers are 13-0 using a secret weapon… Defense.

    Go Niners

  28. By KDB on Jan 12, 2012 | Reply

31-20 Niners and yes, they can keep pace with ANYBODY because of their Offense, Defense and special Teams.

also–look back at the Catch NFC Championship game and then look at that years stats and REALIZE how much the Niners RAN the BALL, quite BIT.

Niners win in a BEATDOWN just under what we did to Tampa!

Wow..you people sure are confident about our Niners winning against the Saints. I hope you are all correct. It has been a great season so far so I try not to get to “High” or too “Low” because it only hurts more if we get beat. Good Luck Niners.

This is so great i am so happy for the team and the players and the Fans. I am living in Christchurch New Zealand after living in the States for the past 32yrs and have always been a die hard fan of the 49ers since last living in San Jose in 1982. I suffered thru the last ten yrs of watching our team fail to have a winning season little make the playoffs. It has been great watching this season as the niners whip butt each and every Sunday like nobodys buisness. We also have a great coach and supporting staff which has made all the difference in the world. Alex Smith has been awesome this year its great when you have an offensive line that s really talented and hes got so much confidence hes now having fun. GOOOO Niners i can smell victory Saturday which will be Sunday for me but never you fear i will be watching from the Niner website with bated breath. Niners will defeat the Saints then go to Greenbay and give them a thrashing then Super Bowl bound they will be. As our All Blacks won the World Cup so will the Niners win the Super Bowl for the sixth time lol!!!

The NINER FAITHFUL HAS TO BE EXTREMELY LOUD ON SATURDAY FOR EVERY SNAP THE SAINTS HAVE THE BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last time I was this pumped up over the Niners in the playoffs, the red and gold was facing Dallas in the NFC Championship game in the mid 90s.

U feel me. SPREAD THE WORD to every niner fan who is attending the game on Saturday. We gotta be SUPER LOUD…so loud it sounds like a dome at the Stick.

    Season Ticket Holder since 1979.

New Orleans, Dec. 7,1980, was ahead 35-7 and the Niners came back and won 38-35. Ray Wersching kicked the Game winning Field goal, I was there.

January 10, 1982, Dallas was ahead 27-21, Niners win with “The Catch” and the Game winning point was made by Ray Wersching’s extra point 28-27. I was there.

And now 30 years after the 1982 NFC Championship Game the Niners will once again be victorious. 30-27 Forty-Niners will win and David Akers will kick the deciding points through the uprights. Yes I’ll be there again. 30 points for 30 years!!

Brees will be CandleSTUCK by the “Smith Brothers and Company.”

The only Brees that will be left at the Stick will be the “Cool Breeze” known as the San Francisco 49er’s.

NY Giants will upset the Green Bay Packers and the NFC Championship Game will be at Candlestick next weekend.

    GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Niners !!

My wife, who is also a big Niner supporter and can recall the 1982 Dallas game as though it was yesterday, was also there with me at those games as well. A few weeks ago we were talking and said “Wouldn’t it be great if the Forty-Niners could bring back Huey Lewis and the News to sing the National Anthem as they did in 1982?” Before the game starts today Huey Lewis and the News WILL be singing the National Anthem.

Suffice it to say there will be “GOOD NEWS from beginning to the end of today’s game.

We’ll see you next week at the Championship Game!
