LB Wilhoite Added to P-Squad

Posted by Alex Espinoza on December 14, 2011 – 3:53 PM

The San Francisco 49ers today announced that they have signed LB Michael Wilhoite to the team’s practice squad. The team also released RB Ian Johnson from the unit.

Wilhoite (6-0, 240) signed with the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL as an undrafted free agent in 2011.

A 25-year old native from Topeka, KS, Wilhoite starred collegiately at Washburn University. He played in 44 games (35 starts), registered 211 tackles and three interceptions, and was named honorable mention All-MIAA, as a senior.

Johnson was signed to the 49ers practice squad on 9/12/11.

~I would have thought that Harbaugh would have got some OFFENSIVE linemen
who understand how to PICK UP THE BLITZ! Just an observation. Maybe justl
play some “straight up football” rather than be all “situational” with everything.
Try running the football which is what we did very well until Roman decided that
situational plays could replace “straight up football”. Its a shame to think that this
    team has PEAKED already.

I agree, I think we need to improve our offense. This was a huge reason we struggled last year. I would like to know what is wrong with Vernon Davis? I look at Atlanta’s Tight end, Tony Gonzalez, New Englands Hernandez and Gladowski, Saints Graham, then I see vernon davis and need to ask what’s his problem. No killer instinct, doesn’t fight for the ball, gives up too soon. I think delanie walker is better. Its crazy that Alex just hikes the ball, no time to make a quick read and is running for his life. He should be able to depend on his O-line.

REDZONE REALLY NEEDS TO IMPROVE, HOW ABOUT REMOVING EDWARDS WHO REALLY HASN’T DONE ANYTHING FOR OUR TEAM BUT DROP THE BALL OR IS NOT ON THE SAME PAGE WITH ALEX. HAVE BRETT SWAIN TAKE HIS PLACE. “MY OPINION”. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AND CONTINUE TO BE A STRONG ALEX SMITH SUPPORTER BUT LATELY HE TAKES TO MANY TIME OUTS, TO LONG IN THE POCKET, RUNNING FOR HIS LIFE. HE NEEDS TO PLAY LIKE HE PLAYED AGAINST TAMPA. QUICK RELEASE!

They ought to consider changing the name of Candlestick Park to “Candlelight Park.”
