Gore Up For FedEx Ground Player Award

Posted by Taylor Price on October 18, 2011 – 8:26 AM

In the past three weeks, Frank Gore has rushed for more than 120 yards in each 49ers win, and was especially impressive this past week against the Detroit Lions.

Gore’s 141 rushing yards against the Lions earned him a FedEx Ground Player of the Week nomination, following his strong game against a previously undefeated Detroit team.

For the season, Gore has 109 carries for 541 yards and four touchdowns.

The veteran running back was also nominated last week, and needs your help again this week to win.

The niners offensive line deserves a lot of credit for that.

he only earns a nomination THIS week…. thats ok. keep this big bull in the china closet. a comfortable alex smith has all the recievers he needs when the big man puts them third and short, or scares the D into run-stop mode.

oops not just THIS week… Sorry. forgot about the whipping of the nfc south leading bucs…. thinking about games forward does that. keep chugging away, and fighting when you’re down 9ers! i remember your coach as the last decent qb for the cols before manning. he was dubbed ‘captain comeback’. so far the title still applies this season. the whole team has that grit.

Aldon Smith best since Dean? Haley? Seems like a nice guy too for now. Hope he doesn’t get weird in the locker room like Haley; involving other players girlfriend fantasies!

Congrats Gore! Way to shut up those over-critical fair-weather so-called niner fans who called you old with nothing left in the tank. Who is eat’n crow now?

Congrats Frankie..the unconvenient TRUTH!! Never thought he was washed.Go Vote Now!!!..We need come up with a nickname for tha o-line..they are playing lights out..200+ yards in consective games is awesome and agains the Lions.Once Alex Smith gets his full confidence as a good QB the offense will b unstoppable.WHO’S GOT IT BETTER THAN US???? NOOOOOOBBBBODDDDDYYYYY

Frankie deserved the extension and more. He has been the perennial 49er for the last 7yrs. I have always felt he was one of the best running backs the 9ers have ever had. Most people do not look at his all around game, i.e. running, blocking, catching. Where are the Gore haters now!! LOL

Seriously, Frankie is key to the offense being successful this year. I am tickled we drafted a talent like Hunter because he can compliment Frank very well, but Frank does have a lot left in the tank and I pray he stays healthy!!

    Go Frankie!!

As far as a 1000yds…he is over half way there. We want to see 1800yds out of the boy!!! He finally has an O-line in front of him that is starting to gel and could dominate some teams!!! You A. Davis haters will regret you want/wanted to bench him by the end of the year!! :-)

when is Alex going to have a game where he gets nominated for the air player???

  21. By Mannco on Oct 21, 2011 | Reply

Gore’s avg. of 120yds. the past 3 games comes from that huge heart he has[pulling tractor tires too]. But of course, you must credit the GREAT job the O-line is doing and the different blocking schemes they use. Gore is also staying fresh and running his azz off.. because of the help of his little bro …Kendall Hunter… and his 9 to 10 carries a game. Go 49ers !!

The 49ers are headed in the right direction. The team needs to stay focus and continue to play with intensifying efforts. Do not let the media break their attention and cause them to lose sight of the ultimate goal!

Remember: the medi will be the first to say, “you are pretenders” !

I for one am walking with my head in the clouds over the winning ways of the 49ers this year. They gelled fast mot offencely or defencely but as a team. And it’s only getting better. And some food for thought the last time we went to detroit when the lions were good and whipped them.We went to and won another superbowl………Can anybody say DEJA VU……..NINERS FOR ME….
