49ers Sign WR Taylor
Posted by on October 12, 2011 – 3:38 PM
The San Francisco 49ers today announced that they have signed WR Kerry Taylor to the team’s practice squad.
Taylor (6-0, 197) originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers on 7/28/11 and was released following training camp. He was then signed to the New England Patriots practice squad on 9/5/11 and was later released on 9/16.
Taylor, a 22-year old native of Chandler, AZ, starred collegiately at Arizona State, appearing in 46 games (20 starts) for the Sun Devils and finished his career with 112 receptions for 1,433 yards (12.8 avg.) and seven TDs. He is also the nephew of former 49ers WR John Taylor.

John Taylor was such a strong guy and a fast guy. Remember those punt returns? Remember that story about how he learned to make quick crazy cuts because he played football in a cemetery as kid? Talk about running on uneven ground(!)

Ask him if his uncle showed him the limp leg move, it used to get John
to break tackles down field. One of the Great moves.

The Niners brought in so many wide recievers to work out for them and they end up signing that Swain guy to a one year contract. They brought in Chris Chambers and T.J Huzmezada, we need a veteran reciever not some guy who has been cut so many times. But I do like the Kerry Taylor pick because in the photo he looks like a beast plus he’s John Taylor’s nephew so that helps. Hopefully nobody decides to steal him off our practice squad.

why don’t the niners play vernon davis at wide reciever. I hear he is fast and can run over corner backs.?

THE RELATION OF KERRY TAYLOR TO JOHN TAYLOR IS AN INTERESTING BIT.
JOHN WAS THE WR THAT CAUGHT THE WINNING TD IN THE 49ers VS Bengals
IN THEIR SECOND SUPER BOWL MEETING. AN OUTSTANDING RECEIVER WITH
INSANE SPEED. NOT MUCH RECOGNITION WHEN #80 RICE WAS ON THE OTHER
SIDE. GOOD ACQUISITION FOR DEVELOPEMENT. NICE CONNECTION WITH
EXCELLENCE FROM OUR PAST. GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

lets go niners, going to be a hard week 6 for us, time to shine like the early 90s niner team

I THINK BACK MONTANA SAID THE PLAY WAS FOR RICE ACROSS
THE MIDDLE BUT THEN HE SAW THAT THEY WERE WATCHING RICE
THEN TAYLOR CAME OPEN . AND HISTORY WAS MADE.

Sportscaster Dick Enberg tv announcer NBC SPORTS…Superbowl XXIII 49ers vs. Bengals 1989…” John Taylor, who sells car in the off season for Reggie Jackson, has just hit the” homerun” for the 49ers”! … Niners were down 16-13 with 3 min left on clock. Montana drives the niners downfield a hits John Taylor for the winning score with seconds left on the clock. Niners win Superbowl XXIII 20-16!

To respond to..glock9er, JH was trying to aggressively run the clock w/under 4 min. He mentioned during the press conference that he didn’t want to “knee the ball”…Nobody expects that!! …He then said he could of run the ball…hmmm.. He then seemed to try to change the subject by saying Morgan and Keap. really wanted to play. Then went back to say he didn’t want to knee it.?? OF course. I just think you risk injury to a recievers ribs, knees, ankles, ect…or less important at the time an interception. Just simply run 3 yards, wrap up the ball and stay inbounds, then kick a field goal w/ three min.left..44-3. No problem giving Tampa back the ball. Of course there is risk in running it, but it’s less risky and the clock runs. All Hindsight, but I think Morgan [ OUR top reciever ] at this time would be starting against the Lions, if JH would of simply run the ball. Love JH, probably coach of the year, but late and w/ a HUGE lead, be more conservative, please. Go niners!!!

Mannco, I feel what your saying ! Everyone wants to blame coach (hardballs… lol )jk coach harbaugh, but you have to sit back and look at morgans decision ,he wanted the TD when he could have down it on the 5 and run the clock down some more. Hey it happens, Morgan is a smart and strong person and i have a feeling he might just heal faster then we think .

It made sense for coach HB to go for the toss. “You can’t kneel down for 4 minutes.” Also a player could get hurt on any play. I know for sure we don’t want to risk injury to our D players.

best of luck to you kerry . . .you are joining a 49ers squad that has needed depth for more than a decade. Although your uncle had montana throwing to him and he could only succeed, smith has stepped it up and you should do well. Just listen to the veterans and feed off of them!
