Why don’t teams use two man receiving on punt returns??? It seems someone always get down on the receiver and he has to avoid that one guy to make any yardage. If there is one guy back to block he can pick off the first guy down and also help call for fair catches so the receiver doesn’t have to to watch for guys coming down and concentrate on catching the ball. A big blocking back would work nicely!!

Are the 49ers interested in either David Garrard or Carson Palmer? Because at this point either of them would be better than Alex Smith

Will Alex Smith be on a short leash this week or next? Because if the 49ers go 0-2 to start the season, even in the NFC West, the season is pretty much over

How will the West Coast offense benefit Alex Smith this season? The Faithful know that this is his make or break year. I was an Aaron Rodgers supporter in the ’05 draft, but I’ve always wanted Alex to succeed. Can this be the year?

Before Eric Davis was hired to be the color voice on the radio,he was very honest about Alex not beiung very good in any area of QBing. Now it seems that because he is working for the Niners both he and Ted (as usual) are homers when on the air. We fans want honesty,as Eric always gave us before he was being paid by the Niners. When Alex sucks,SAY SO ! If he surprises and plays better than his usual mediocre, then go ahead and praise him. But tell the truth about his shortcommimgs ! Just because you work for the Niners and just because Alex is a nice guy etc,is no reason to try to fool the fans by p[retending Alex is not at fault when he throws high and behind the receivers and throws late. TRUTH !!!

    Dear Teddy,

It was said in previous years that Alex Smith wasn’t given any lea way on audibles at the line of scrimmage and that he had to run the play that was called regardless of whether it was a bad call, as sometimes happens. Will Alex be given more lea way to make adjustments at the line, to call audibles if the defense has the play called pegged? Also, most successful offensive teams are able to adjust series by series to what the opponent is doing to them instead of waiting until have time to make adjustments and losing a half of play, will Harbough and/or Roman make adjustments “in game” between series’ instead of having to wait until half time?

    Thanks

    Keith

    Yo Teddy,
Whats your thought on Tolzien possibility playing early in the season? And is this the beginning of the end for Kaepernak? How ever you spell it. Don’t think he’ll be around long enough to have the need to learn how. Maybe Garrard a short term answer?

  15. By Vincente Amparano on Sep 9, 2011 | Reply

I just want honesty. Why did we draft a man (Crabtree) who misses the training camp workouts three years in a row? He honestly, is very talented, but the great ones never missed training camps consecutively. What is he an old man? I just hope he knows the only reason he is rich is because of fans who pay to see him.

Football Friends,… I just want to Thank Coach JH for coming to San Francisco and bringing the Dynasty Back! Every move he is making shows he knows what he is doing. In fact I am predicting that NINERS will be in 1st place through the first 5-6 weeks! His vision to the smallest of detail will bring us our glory in the NFL. We must be patient bottom line we have not had a Coach like this since Walsh! Our QB is in his last stand, either he gets it or he doesn’t quickly. Personally I think CLEARLY that A Smith takes too long in the mental reaction area. I truly believe if Whitner has a good day vs Miller our annual secondary problems are gone, and we will be Dynasty ready ( pretty close). My Question for Teddy is do you think Whitner will win this weeks challenge?

With Alex Smith at the helm of the 49er offensive machine, How will this affect Smith’s choices on who he will throw to and how often? Eeither Crabtree, Davis, Edwards and Gin???

  18. By MikeJ on Sep 10, 2011 | Reply

Niner fans you need to be patient with JH, remember Bill Walsh went 2-14 and 4-12 in his first two years. “Good things come to those who wait”!!

    Ted, Scott and Taylor,
Here we are another 49ers season and despite media expectations we are ready to “Shock the world”!! Ted these teams have met before but now both have new offenses. In a west coast scheme the first 15 plays are scripted. Coach Harbaugh will be calling most of the plays inside Alex’s helmut. What are the positives of this approach and how do you think it will effect our offense? Ted do you see the Seahawks offense trying to create a mis match with our outside line backers ability to drop into coverage against Zack Miller?Ted if we win the NFC WEST can you ask Vernon again to get Alex to agree to a mohawk? Actualy Anthony Dixon is an expert on those!!

  23. By DOUG HOLZKAMP on Sep 10, 2011 | Reply

    Ted and Scott,
We begin a new 49ers season with many changes. A new coaching staff, new players with a new offensive and deffensive schemes. Ted is there anything you will change or have improved on? Example will you change your “Touch Down 49ers!!” when we score to something else? Scott what will be different about your approach? What have you improved on? Could we as fans see you do a 49ers cribbs segmant on some of the players? Or “Lunch with a Lineman” where you try to eat as much as Joe Staley at burrito La Cumbre in the Mission district. Or “My Favorite Whip” where you profile players custom rides. When will we hear Anthony Dixon rap?

Ted, when will you start ignoring Doug Holzkamp’s posts?

  25. By John Roberts on Sep 11, 2011 | Reply

Why are we not considering cutting Moran Norris and signing Ryan Cook who was an All American Center in College and played Tackle for MN since his arrival into the NFL. He would push Goodwin and allow Snyder to Start at RG.

I thought Teddy Rowe played well enough to earn a spot on the practice squad. Is Tukuafu and Williams capable of performing consistently at the NFL level?

We need a C, and TE or WR on Offense and let Alex play the entire season.

If the 49ers win the first two games, I have them at 10-6. If they lose the first game, I have them going 2-14. If they win then 7-9, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia are automatic losses and the remaining 13 games are winnable games.

  26. By John Roberts on Sep 11, 2011 | Reply

PS would you move Vernon Davis to WR since he is our fastest player on the roster?

  27. By Rico Reed on Sep 11, 2011 | Reply

I really love the Niners!!!!!!! However, the truth of the matter is whatever the Niner’s question, Alex Smith is NOT the answer. The Bengals released one of the best punt returners in the league in Quan Cosby. He didn’t fumble and he is lightening quick!

Is the Niners coaching staff concerned at all about the inconsistent play of the offensive line? Coach Harbaugh, over the preseason has seemed alarmingly unconcerned about it. Is it too early to be worried about it? Tell me I’m over reacting. What are your thoughts.

I speak for all the 49er fans, when i was seated next to all these 49er fans during the opening day game against seattle, these people were so upset and tired of the same old B.S. regarding A.Smith.The guy has looked the same every season. He plays scared,he looks lost out there and plays with no confidence. What will it take to get the niners organization to admit that Alex Smith is not the guy to QB this team. This guy has been given 6yrs to show that he is a consistant productive QB, and he shows the complete opposite. This is no longer about whats in the best interest of the team, its about politic’s. This team has a elite defence and has the best TE V.Davis in the NFL. They have a elite group of reciever’s and a probowl running back. They have all tools to be a playoff team, but its Alex Smith who keeps this team from moving forward. What will it take to make the people in the 49ers office to just let this scrub go and move on with another QB. The fans have lost interest when it come to going to see this team play, while this scrub is our QB.

Didn’t 49ers sign QB Scott Tolzen? I think the fans would be more excited to see this rookie who showed more promise in one preseason game, than Alex Smith showed the last 6 years. Alex Smith is the reason why this team can’t move forward as an elite offencive unit. I would start Scott Tolzen over Alex Smith any day, would u?
