They got rid of the wrong smith… Should have dumped Alex Smith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. By 5f6a on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

    Dumping McKillop is a mistake.

  3. By Mike R on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

Only guy that needs to dumped at this point is Solari…couldn’t coach an offensive line if he took remedial lessons. The 49er OL stinks.

  4. By Fan on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

Seems like McKillop has not bounced back from his injury. Should make the practice squad and come back ready for 2012…unless another team picks him up off waivers.

  5. By GIT-R-DUN on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

Alex Smith should be first on the list to be released!!!!

  6. By freeze on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

no surprises….how is Dumping Mckillop a mistake?…he hasnt shown anything since returning from injury and Larry Grant blew by him on the depth chart. he will land somewhere and be a special team contributer and a back up(at best) but he was beat out here.

  7. By John Walsh on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

McKillop didn’t look all that good during the game and it’s way to early after his injury to keep him. As for losing him, if the Niners cut him, he’s not likely to get picked up by anyone who watched the last game.

Who is the other OL coach besides Solari? I’ve ranted about the OL often enough, but they are learning new blocking schemes, whcih can’t be easy. Get Deese or McIntyer to come back and coach the line. They knew how to do it right.

  8. By joey S on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

No huge surprises here other than possibly McKillop. But as it has been mentioned he will be a good practice squad candidate if he doesn’t catch on with another team first. The more difficult decisions will certainly be on Friday.

I’m guessing that Andy Lee is feeling better with the release of Paulescu.

  9. By big cabrera on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

they should have cut all the qbs

  10. By Wrldtrvlr74 on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

McKillop is not eligible for the practice squad since he has suited up in more than 8 games in a season.

  11. By JDS on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

Jurovich was a good fast receiver. Hopefully just a shot with another team or placed on the practice squad.

  12. By kurt on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

no practice sqaud for mckillop. another team will pick him up. to bad i always liked him. oh well linebackers are not are problem. making up a o line that can play with each other is!

Vic fangio knows what he’s doing he put together the dome patrol scott m. you was a coo bakc up but were too deep I believe you’ll get a better chance with another team like philly who is depleted at LB

what alex smith didnt get cut yet???????????????????? wow!

  15. By benjamin on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

Mckillop was a mistake. Letting Lawson go was a mistake, not keeping Franklin was a mistake. Spikes had another good year left.

  16. By tom in NJ on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

Next cut will be the interesting one..WISH they would work trade(future draft pics) for Patrick Peterson…The guy is going to be great! And we need another good DB with teams going w 4 Rec sets!….Go NINERS!

Were o were has the championship mentality gone! Is the players and staff all in it for the money or what? I can not believe it has taken this long to get back to winning championship team, and by the looks of it who knows when that will be. I have been a big fan scence 1982 and i hate to say this about the NINERS but it makes people wonder how other teams can do it but we can’t. Get on the ball and start producing wins, By the way Alex Smith needs to go!!!!!

winier4life, we heard that you were going to be traded to the Raiders team as their new fan support. Alex is going to be our starting quarter back and is going to do a great job. STOP THE HATING AND START SUPPORTING OUR WHOLE TEAM OR GO FIND ANOTHER TEAM TO CRY ABOUT!

    niner4life,

if they cut Alex Smith what do they have left? Kaspernick is not ready and none of the other qb’s are any better. Harbaugh must see something in Alex we don’t, at least I sure hope so. This could be another long, long year.

Fellas…are D is on point so far, as we’ve only given up 1 score in 3 games. Are O-Line is where we are suffering in the worst way. I am hoping and wishing for a “Montana or a Young” but I dont think they would survive with are current O-Line’s blocking. With the added help to the WR’s with Edwards, we are descent on O if we can simply make a block. We need to pay Gore what’s reasonable for his age and we should be ok. And for the record Dixon better watch out for Hunter at the #2 spot at RB.

niner4life Let me ask you if the 49ers win about 10 games and Alex has a good year oh lets say about 25 tds and less then 10 ints will you still hate him or will you be willing to say you were wrong?

I am optimistic about our season. One game at a time.

the Seattle game is very winnable for us.

Forget a bout going 10-6. let’s go for 1-0. then we can worry about the next game.

Pre-season is for practice only. Don’t give up on your team.

    GO 49NERS!

Football is back!!! for everyone that’s lov’n and hate’n on Alex & the niners, can’t we all just get along…I bet if our O-line did we’d be on Alex’s jock; wouldn’t we? Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, etc. all have good O-lines. If anyone of those guys were to have played for our team just two of the three pre-season games they wouldn’t have been as good. Alex is who we have right now and he is good enough to win! this team is what we have right now, O-line get it together! Let’s route for our team until we lose our voices, get pissed if you want to, eat and drink a lot (I know I will) and if the ship goes down this season…I’m going with it (just let me grab my wings!!); because unlike the Titanic we will rise from the depths. Yes…I do have a dream!! It begins with the niners making it to the Superbowl and ends in us winning!!!! SOON. This has been a Funky Fingers Production. Baaam!!!

    I’m out!

Jim Harbaugh will have Alex Smith playing like the way he did under norv turner,Alex still has that in him,he just needs time, and running the west coast offense will benifit Alex. Hes are best option,if he fails then bye next year and collin is our guy,if he does good and we get to the playoffs, then alex stays and we got a good backup in collin and more time collin stays on bench and learn the better he will be when he gets his named called. right now collin is too green to start. you do you guys want, cullpepper, delhomme, they won’t be any better, once they start Goodwin we will improve the line, they should of started him ealier, hes a pro bowl center, and goodwin will have davis and all other lineman playing better, cause he brings experience and Braylon brings experience too,he knows what it takes to win.

  36. By Fan on Aug 31, 2011 | Reply

I hear a lot of what ifs about Alex Smith. Fact is he has not produced and will not. He needs to go along with the Yorks and then maybe we can start winning again.

  37. By freeze on Aug 31, 2011 | Reply

we have too many people on here crying about Mckillop…he’s gone get over it! keep him arround for what to occupy space? he wasnt going to get much playing time and LB’s is our deepest unit (other than safties)…..bottom line 1) there are 3 better linebackers ahead of him and 2) he is still not fully recovered.
get off the sentimental soap box

  39. By alex_fn_smith on Aug 31, 2011 | Reply

our o-line isnt that bad, look at the cowboys, our o-line is better than theirs and yet romo is breaking records….you see theres a difference between a great quarterback, and a guy with a great arm. and a great quarterback will take you down the field regardless of how the 0-line is

  40. By alex_fn_smith on Aug 31, 2011 | Reply

all alex smith is,is a tall geek with a good arm,he doesnt have the awareness, the mobility,or the natural born leadership to be a great quarterback, yea sure you could just have a geek standing there and throwing the ball like tom brady, for those kind of guys yes you do need an above average o-line,but if we had a great quarterback, the o-line wont even matter

  41. By alex_fn_smith on Aug 31, 2011 | Reply

if steve youngs o-line was great he never would have had to run, same goes for garcia,or montana,or mcnabb,or vick, or romo or a guy that we never should have gotten rid of….a guy who had what it took to be a great quarterback…..TROY SMITH!!!

  42. By alex_fn_smith on Aug 31, 2011 | Reply

id rather have a quarterback that cant throw a deep ball but can take us down field 10 yards at a time, than someone like alex smith who could throw a deep ball, but only if the receiver is w i d e open

  43. By alex_fn_smith on Aug 31, 2011 | Reply

he cant even change a play at the line,he has to call time out and then ask the coach what to do,what the heck is that!

here we go again calling for the head of Alex Smith..c’mon people its not all his fault..have you not been watching the games..the O line has not givin any of our QBs time for anything to happen.dont matter what QB we have back there heck even if P.Manning was there he wouldnt be able to do much of anything with like only 2seconds of throwing time that the O line gives..calm down HOPEFULLY we will make adjustments and fix every thing and it’ll be smooth sailing from there on …GOOOOOO 9ERS

  48. By Tyrell on Aug 31, 2011 | Reply

The big question is whether Masoli or McCown will make the team and if the O-Line will block. I know Alex Smith can play so I’m not gonna bandwagon and hate.

  49. By JJ49ers on Aug 31, 2011 | Reply

Stop with the Alex Smith being Cut!!! Its the O-Line fault for letting defense line get to him. Go back and look at the videos when he was sack…. He had about 2.0 secs that is not enough time to throw a ball. You need a good 3.5 to 5 sec to atleast read the cover and find a open reciever. The O-Line is at fault for his failure.

  50. By Michael Mosher on Aug 31, 2011 | Reply

who is this 49er fan that thinks troy smith and tony romo are good qbs,,…those 2 will never be in a super bowl… romo cant win second half of the season and troy is nothing even close to be a good qb…..im glad you are not coaching for us……if our o-line could give either of our qbs atleast 3 secs maybe we could see something special…..the rest of the team looks good ….O-LINE….. im not so sure

Bottom line here is the offensive line STINKS! Its one of the worst Ive ever seen at this level and until its rebuilt it wont matter whos taking snaps. Harbaugh will fix this Singletary disaster but it will take time. No playoffs this year folks I guarantee it:)

mc killop gone equals good and for alex smith im glad we have him and as far as o line were young and solari if the o line does not improve after this year someone better will take his spot anyways well be better gentleman trust me we will we got some good pieces especially on defense we have new better db’s and safety so im confident madieu wiliams will be a beast also for alex to clarify more on him 4 to 5 offense coordinators equals disaster for any QB so dont blame him if he gets time to throw beautifull things will happen!!! go frisco!

Look forward to the last pre-season game, but do not expect much. I believe the coach and management has a plan which they worked on during the lockout, and they have been working that plan. What they have been deprived of this pre-season they are using with these meaningless pre-season games, and that is to train and evaluate players and the heck with the win/loss record. Sure there has been some nasty shocks along the way, but better now than in the regular season. I am betting that the next part of their plan is the cuts all of the teams will be making: many teams have depth at certain positions they cannot keep on the roster, players 49er management have long identified and have their eyes on. This Saturday when all teams trim their rosters, a huge turkey-shoot will begin. Good players will become available, and the 49ers will be in the hunt. This could be an interesting week in football.

Cant believe they cut Jurovich. They didnt give him enough rep’s in a game situation, WR coach is mistaken to keep some of the guys he did over Jurovich. Disappointing. Same with McKillop. These guys will get picked up else where and the Niners will STILL have players like Alex … disappointing to see.

jump off of alex smith back no one can throw without a o-line i don’t care if you are tom brady or vick,it’s not going to happen. he can throw the ball like any other qb we just have to put it togrther as a team. we lose and win as a team. so if anyone wants to blame someone blame the team not jus alex.

Hey Ya’ll! This is my first time posting… I just want to say that I think it’s a shame that we have so much talent on the team, offense and defense, and we don’t have a decent QB to control the game. Alex Smith is a waste of a contract. I bet his contract is held together with a sh*t load of tape, cuz they ripped it up so many times, and he’s STILL HERE!!!

  73. By HeavyMetal9er on Sep 1, 2011 | Reply

The 9ers could have drafted Rodgers, then you could just substitute “Rodgers” for “Smith” for everything said about Smith these last few years, because nobody at QB would have thrived under the conditions of the last few years, and I doubt Rodgers would still be around to be taking a beating from the bandwagoners. Football is a TEAM sport, and it takes more that a QB to succeed.
And might I add that Singletary lost his job the moment he fired Martz.

I can agree where the O-line is hurting, and Alex does make some mistakes, BUT every QB makes mistakes…and guys we cant take really anything from preseason other than Kendall Hunter kicks some arse. No Crabtree, no Gore. no Davis,….it will be a whole new Offense once we have the boys in. It will compliment the D so they arent ont he field ALL game and we should do very well. Hang in there and wait….last year we slept the 1st 5 games, and mind you only lost to Philly, Atlanta, and New Orleans by 3 points or less in that stretch. We then won 6 of the last 10 games, without Alex, partially without Gore….we’ve added some weapons with Edwards and in the secondary(Badly needed, clements was dead weight) and got rid of Lawson which was injury prone and never lived up to what he was supposed to so….if we stay healthy were going to ROCK out the division.
