We do have a QB, we just need QB protections… T. Brady could get kills with our OL…

    Go Niners…

don’t be surprised if crabtree does not start week 1. no practice plus he has to be better than morgan, edwards or ginn. he is better than gin and morgan but those 2 have had a great camp. i i’ve been reading that ginn has been holding on to the ball. u no harbaugh has no ties to crabtree so he will have to earn that spot. o line needs work but did u see capernick escape those sacks like it was nothing. i like that

Good to heat! @ kurt Crabs has not shown me anything to think he is better than Joshua or Ted at this point. I believe when he is all caught up he will be a solid # 2 behind Braylon.

I’m glad we are happy that Michael Crabtree is coming back but now we have to get Frank back on board, then we have to get the coaches a little more fired up about the mistakes that are being made on the field year in and year out, I personally do not want to here the excuses we need to be angry at the players when the mess up not give them the excuse of just learning the system be patient it will be better because this is a competition and there are no moral victories you either win or loss and we have to win, I would like to see somebody on the coaching staff get pissed off.

believe me crabtree will start if not game 1 by at least game 2 or 3 Haurbaugh knows that crabtree had some what of a break out season last yr. he progress with every year if he dont start crabtree that’ll be a big mistake. Ted ginn is a top ten pikc so yeah I believe he has the talent and he has been catching way better no more concrete hands lol… morgan I like but not as a starter he’s perfect for the slot

  14. By NorthLongBeach49erFanSinceBirth on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

we need a qb colin is still a work in progress and smith i just beleive he needs a new change of scenery. its too many good qb’s coming out this yr in the draft… Lukc, Landry Jones, Kellen Moore, Matt Barkly, plus theres always those qbs who have a break out season in college so we’ll get a qb if not alex or colin then next yr

Wow! Big deal about a Crabtree…it would be foolish to start him in week 1. He has shown to be a selfish player and starting him against SEA would only condone him missing pre-season….over and over. Personally I loved the Edwards move cause I don’t think Crabtree being the game-breaker he is expected to be; will unless he dulls his ego a bit and utilizes his truely amazing talents. On top of that we still need a QB and anyone thinking otherwise in my book is crazy. For #1 overall pick what has he done? Sure he has faced difficult tasks with new coaches/injury but even behind Brady’s line he would still make poor decisions especially when under pressure. I am sure he is a great guy but in my opinion is better suited as an NFL back-up at best. Time to move on from the Smith Experiment. In regards to the OL…I hope the coaches do get them fired up because if not one the true stars #21 is going to take a beating…good thing he is tough. My apologies fans for the long message but its my first blog! Go 9ers!!!

I’m a die hard niners fan, abiut 30yrs now. I am glad to see Crabtree back cause it gives us more depth at the position. We will do fine this season Harbaugh is a good coach, just give him a chance to workout the kinks. It is still a new offense for everyone. Thanks

Does anyone else get tired of comments from people who know nothing about football. This is the first season for a coaching staff that was in college last year. Yes, most of them have pro experience but they were in college last year. They are installing a system and don’t have the right type of players for the system, plus, non of the players we do have know the system. We don’t have a qb, the qb is the most important part of this system. I get it, you’re being positive fans, but, get real!!! We’re not going to be good this year coming off of a lockout. No, JH isn’t going to throw games to get Andrew Luck next year..that’s not professional. But, he doesn’t have to, we suck. If we don’t get the first pick in the draft, we pick up Landry or Barkley, Luck refuses to sign like Eli Manning and we trade our guy for Luck and the following years 2nd round pick. It will all work out in 2013.

Die hard 49ers for 30yrs. Harbaugh is a good coach and he is installing a new offense also. It is not just QB’s but everybody has to learn the offense and workout the kinks. The OL is still young but they will be alright once the season starts. GO NINERS!

The O line has got to do a better job. Alex is taking all the blame as usual. Time to give this guy a chance. We have the wide outs, tight ends and running backs to make it happen. Time for the O line to stand up!

winier4life, I hope I do die, I would leave my kids millions and also I would not have to put up with your baby talk anymore. Get a life pal, either support out team or go find another team to cry about. All you do is bash our team over and over again, you never have anything good to say ever. Your always throwing Alex under the bus. I even think that your from another team. I don’t think the good Lord is ready for me yet, I will be here through the whole season and more if it is His will. I do forgive you!

  30. By leeznutz on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

Good news but cant throw to him with the protection we saw against texans and plus you cant just stand there when you feel pressure also. alex has to do a better job when he feels pressure to get out of the pocket to extend the play. i know that at times there were points in the game that he couldnt even get on the back drop but he still needs to improve his awareness bc he is not going to be a starting qb in this league if he is going to let that happen. and where is the fire when you get sacked that many times. as the “captain” at one point, u need to get in your linemans faces and start grabbing facemasks and yelling at them to protect you. alex smith=no heart

I just dont see Alex as a team leader. Even if his O-line isnt doing well, he doesnt talk to them, communicate. A QB has got to bring the offense together, or at least the O-line, and tell the what he wants from em. He doesnt do that, doesnt have that leadership role that the QB’s in SF have had in the past. But, I trust Haurbaugh to bring in someone with more talent. Alex wont last in SF for long without having a complete change in his personality

@ OKC87 I feel you on that. There was times when Alex Smith looked brilliant last year. I just hope that Harbaugh can at least do something positive with him this year. And also I’m a 9ers fan from dat OKC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

looks like well be riding the Alex inconsistency train this year again. Hell give us bright spots keep us interested but as i’m seeing his decision making is still an issue. Even with the major OL problems we have he could still be making better reads and throw the ball more accurate. I love Alex for some reason and want so bad for him to snap into greatness like we thought when we spent number 1 on him instead of Rodgers. Well Lets go niners im with you till forever. Crabtree is a beast to accompany Vernon and Braylon and Gore and others ohhhh my god lets make it happen. Just do enough Alex.

  36. By ogre on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

Hopefully Crab will develope into the premiere WR that everyone thinks he is. Coach will make him work for it. No more “gimme’s”! And that goes for Alex as
well (possibly more so). story goes..” there was a city, and in this city a football team. Team drafted a qb (everyone said hooray); surly sage said “we’ll see?”
Football team crapped out (everyone said “fire the coach”-including me), surly sage said “we’ll see?” Great coach hired/including all his staff (everyone said
“that’s wonderfull”: surly sage said “we shall see?”. Football team possesses
many talented and “beast like” players (everyone said “we should win the nfc”)
“WE SHALL SEE”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GAME 1 NO MORE TALK!!!!!!

    OGRE

I think Alex’s approach is great. Yelling and throwing a fit at the players won’t do anything but make you look like a five year old. Plus that’s why we have coaches. He does talk to them, just not where you can see them and he’s calm about it and not exploding, so I think he’s just trying to keep his composure.

with Gore, Davis, Cabtree, Morgan, Braylon and Smith i think we have our selfs some team Please do your best 49ers its time for us to hit the Playoffs

  39. By leeznutz on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

@kristopher- So your not gonna get your line in check when the game is going on. ppl already think that you are horrible and the horrible line play against texans alex should look the other way? cmon man!! a real leader will get in their face and tell them to step their game up! get real kris your backing him up when you know and he knows this is his last chance to make an impression before hes gone for sure and he needs to atleast show that fire to get respect for me. if you look at the texans game vernon davis was yelling all over alex smith bc vernon is a “leader” alex isnt cut out to be a star or maybe not even a starter in this league

  40. By dimndinthruf on Aug 30, 2011 | Reply

I agree with the people that are saying that Alex isn’t the leader we need but, right now he’s here and I know he’s good enough to win. At the wrong times our O-Line breaks down and he get’s the blame.
I will also say that Smith has the guts to come back year after year and take the physical abuse from opposing teams & verbal abuse he gets from us fans, Because he does hold on to the ball too long, but Give the man some credit either way, because when it come down to it he’s out there not us.
GOD bless the 49ers to win big this year Amen!! GO Niners!!!!
Can I get an Amen people

Let’s go Crabtree! You were a BEAST in college. Show us those God-given skills on Sundays!

  43. By CmoreC8zy on Aug 31, 2011 | Reply

Alex has had several years to get things straight, and I do think he has finally found the groove The biggest problem is the O-line. It seems Alex is 1 second away from making the play, but it seems that somene in the line loses the block and Alex takes the hit, and that makes the whole team look like mush. Unfortunately, it is not always the same player who loses the block. If it were just one, JH could just pull that lineman and find someone else. However, in this case, its all of them blowing their blocks, but at different times. Alex has the good arm, good coaching, and, now, Crabtree, Braylon, & Davis, the guys with the speed, hands and experience to get open, and, or, Gore to wiggle through the line. What the offense needs now is just a little more consistancy from the 5 up front………they need 1 more second to greatness!

Crabtree was a bust. Taylor Mays was a bust. Believe it or not, Alex Smith and Kaper are both busts. Pretty much your entire offensive line is a bust. Singletary would make a better highschool coach. And Jim Harbaugh obviously doesn’t know where to start. Don’t worry there’s always next year, Andrew Luck? But hey, even Luck wouldn’t be able to make plays with less than two seconds in the pocket. Good luck guys but remember this isn’t the 19th century, I hate to remind you guys, but your team is trash right now!

Time is what we need and practice.Alex Smith has made progress on the field. His release is better and quicker. Ounce they get there running game going with gore and dixon, things will come together. Everyone will be slow at the start of the season and i dont think it will be us. O line please step up, you can do it. Help Alex Smith find that arm baby.GO 49ers!

I was worried about the o line but we forget that Joe Staley has been injured we need him to be healthy a whole season.Of course they are going to start Crabtree the team invested alot of money into him and its going to improve our running game Frank Gore is going to rush for 1700 yards.
