Into Africa with Vernon Davis

Posted by Taylor Price on August 19, 2011 – 2:48 PM

Vernon Davis is well-known for his interests outside of football. The 49ers Renaissance man is an avid painter, a company spokesman and a philanthropic footballer, too.

The 49ers tight end recently showcased even more of his non-football interests while spending his offseason in Africa along with brother and Miami Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis. The Davis brothers were there to learn more about the people in Africa and how they’re dealing with hardships after a recent war.

Comcast SportsNet Bay Area was there to document the experience and will air the footage in a special dubbed, “Into Africa with Vernon Davis.” The program airs this Sunday, Aug. 21, at 2:30 p.m. PT on CSN Bay Area.

“I think people should watch it because it will let them see what’s really going on in Africa,” Davis said. “There’s a lot of things going on there. It really caught my eye.”

Here’s a preview of the special courtesy of CSN.
