49ers Extend Agreement with KNBR

Posted by Taylor Price on July 25, 2011 – 9:05 AM

San Francisco 49ers fans will continue to listen to their beloved team on Northern California’s premier sports radio station for several more years.

The 49ers and Cumulus, San Francisco’s KNBR and 107.7 The Bone announced a four-year contract extension continuing the partnership through the 2014 season.  The announcement was made today by Chief Operating Officer, Paraag Marathe.

The 49ers have been on KNBR/The Bone since 2005. In addition, the agreement includes reaching radio listeners through the 49ers Radio Network which includes nearly two dozen affiliate stations throughout California plus stations in Hawaii, Oregon and Nevada.

“This has been an extremely positive partnership,” said Marathe. “The San Francisco 49ers and KNBR have been leading brands in the market place and we look forward to several more years of working together.”

In addition to providing extensive game coverage, KNBR will offer fans in-depth pregame and postgame programming.  KNBR and 107.7 The Bone will air players’ and coaches’ shows, including the Jim Harbaugh Show which will air Tuesday mornings throughout the season.

“We’re excited to continue our partnership with the San Francisco 49ers and provide Bay Area football fans with their choice of listening on either the AM or FM band,”  said Lee Hammer, Director of Operations for Cumulus San Francisco.  “KNBR and its dominant 50,000 watt AM signal reaches all of Northern California or for those who prefer their pro football on the FM dial, KSAN delivers the game in bone-crushing stereo. “

KNBR 680 is the Bay Area’s Sports Leader and home of the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants and Golden State Warriors Games.

107.7 The Bone is the Bay Area’s Rock Station, featuring Lamont & Tonelli weekday mornings and the legendary Steven Seaweed mid-days.

Cumulus Media Inc. is the second-largest radio company in the United States based on station count.  Giving effect to the completion of all pending acquisitions Cumulus directly and through its investment in Cumulus Media Partners will own or operate 339 radio stations in 65 U.S. media markets.

Is there any chance that the radio broadcasts will be synched with the play on the field. The delay was really poor and annoying last yr. I called the station about it last yr. but got no response. I like to listen to the radio broadcast during the game to get instant updates on the action. Also, are there any good portable radios on the mkt. that are reliable and inexpensive that you would recommend.
