Report: McKillop Back to Full Strength

Posted by Taylor Price on June 22, 2011 – 1:51 PM

According to 49ers beat writer Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, 49ers linebacker Scott McKillop says he’s 100-percent ready for the 2011 season.

McKillop, a standout rookie special teams performer in 2009, did not play last season after suffering a season-ending knee injury in training camp. However, he recently shared with Maiocco some positive news: McKillop has been cleared by team doctors for full participation once the team resumes practices.

“It’s been a rollercoaster, getting drafted, doing some things in the first year and looking forward to the next year, then getting hurt,” McKillop said to Maiocco. “It’s life. A lot of ups-and-downs, and you got to keep battling.”

Good; he needs to copy Clay Matthews training regiment in MMA training to improve his explosiveness. Gotta shoot for the starts with this new coaching regime. Have to impress to make the team.

I hope he comes back with a vengeance. It would be good if he could be in the footsteps of Zach Thomas or Clay Matthews.

This kid is a solid special teams player. He is a difference maker in kick off and punt coverage. He needs to grow into the clay mathews type of player. clay mathews is top caliber backer and should have been higher in the top 100 of 2011. i’m a die hard niner, but i give credit where credit is due.

Free agent ILB Mario Harvey out of Marshall is better. I hope we get him when the lockout is lifted.
