Davis Makes NFLN’s Top 100 List

Posted by Taylor Price on May 11, 2011 – 10:34 AM

Like Frank Gore one week prior, Vernon Davis has cracked NFL Network’s Top 100 players of 2011.

Davis was voted by NFL players as the league’s 88th-best on the list of the game’s top performers. In 2010, Davis led the 49ers in both receiving yards (914) and touchdowns (7). It was the second consecutive season he led the team in those categories.

Here’s the segment on Davis that aired last Sunday. Running backs coach Tom Rathman presented him in the clip and described Davis as a “Freak.”

Not to worry, Rathman meant it in a good way of course. He highlighted Davis’ uncanny ability to stretch defenses vertically in the passing game as well as aid the running game as a dominant blocking tight end.

    DAVIS = Stud

I feel that 88th on the list is way too high!! Vernon should have broken into the top 50, without a problem! This year will be better, I’m sure!
    Go Vernon!
    Go NINERS!!!

88 that is disrespectful for the nfl’s top TE if only he had someone to give him the ball then they would all see

VD is a beast just like Rathman said he deffinatly got robbed. No TE in the laegue bloks like him runs routes has his speed plus soft hands. If we had a QB or some immagination in the offense.
I really liked how Harbaugh moved his line & TE too confus the defenses. It was in college though but he has too be an improvement than the last 3 coaches weve had.
Gore got robbed too lets see how underated Willes gets snubed…

How can Josh Freeman( Not that he’s not good) be ahead of VD and FG! 10 rbs on the list & you mean to tell me Frank is tenth? Haven’t seen any better play out of a TE other then VD! List is a joke!

88??? thats ridiculous just like him not making the pro bowl last year. You will not find a better tight end in the league who can block and make plays like VD. All the other so called “better” tight ends had better quarterbacks but yet VD was still able to compile 914 yards in an offense with no prove WRs. He should be in the top 30 maybe even 20 if you look at his complete body of work. They owe us!!! P willis better make top 10

That list is a JOKE!!! There’s no way that Frank is 94th and VD is #88! They’re doing these rankings off of records and not overall talent and production. Jason Witten was some trash last year and I guarantee that he is high on the list along with other Dallas Cowgirls. I know one thing, Patrick Willis better be in the top 10..there’s no better MLB in the league better than him (with all due respect to Ray Lewis) cuz Ray Lewis is old and he is on the decline.

Alex aint as bad as people say finished top 15 in the league and Vernon made the top100 thats less than 1% of all active players eligible now if they can just write a decent playbook well be getting somewhere

Davis would have gotten higher if he was consistant on catching. He needs to work on his focus, and catch the ball more.
When he catches everything He is HoF

I hope Colin Kaepernick is works out. I’m sure with a good QB Vernon Davis would be in the top 20 and the 49ers would be a playoff team at least. go 49ers!

vernon davis is the best tight end in the business bottom line. if he were playing for any other team with a good quarterback, im sure he will out receive any receiver in this league
