On June 2, 49ers President and CEO Jed York will join other prominent Bay Area leaders in supporting the creation of a sustainable economy in Southern Sudan.
York and other Bay Area intellects, athletes and entrepreneurs will lend their support to the 2011 New Scholars Gala at the Stanford University Club in San Francisco, a charity event that focuses on rebuilding Sudan.
“This is a great team effort to empower entrepreneurs in the newest country and I support it fully,” said York, who has donated a special, VIP experience at 49ers training camp to the event’s auction.
Stanford graduate and “lost boy” of Sudan, Garang Akau is the co-founder of New Scholars along with Silicon Valley entrepreneur Darius Golkar. The two founded New Scholars to help rebuild Sudan by bringing Silicon Valley business leaders to Africa team entrepreneurship.
