49ers.com Receives Webby Awards Honor

Nearly 10,000 entries were received for the 15th Annual Webby Awards, an international award honoring excellence on the Internet. Categories included websites, online film and video, mobile and interactive advertising.
We submitted our “A Day in the Life: Equipment Intern” video from last training camp. Our equipment manager, Steve Urbaniak, starred in the video and allowed me to spend a day as one of his interns, to show viewers at home just how difficult it is to set up and run an NFL practice. I had to set up the practice field, help the coaches with drills and do laundry…from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
It was a long day and according to Shawntae Spencer, I’m not much of a wide receiver.
The work was well worth it though, receiving a positive response from fans as well as being named an “Official Honoree” in the Webbys, a distinction going to less than 10-percent of entries. Not too bad considering we were competing with the likes of ESPN, CBS, Yahoo and The Washington Post.
You can check out a list of all the other honorees as well as vote for your favorite out of the top five in each category. Watch our video below.
