Willis Advances in Madden Tournament

Posted by Taylor Price on April 4, 2011 – 10:09 AM

Patrick Willis is a lot like Butler University, still in a tournament and picking up steam each step of the way. The 49ers star linebacker is one of eight remaining hopefuls for the Madden NFL 12 cover and has recently moved on to the next round of competition just like the Bulldogs.

Willis is an underdog in his tournament just like Butler is a so-called Cinderella in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Willis is a No. 7 seed while Butler is a No. 8 seed.

The Pro Bowl linebacker remains in his competition after he defeated Hines Ward of the Pittsburgh Steelers by a 20-percent margin in the second round. Willis now faces Michael Vick for a coveted spot in the semifinals.

So far, Willis has received a tremendous amount of support despite having a few skeptics. There’s a lot of talk about a potential Madden curse in the commenting section of this blog, but if you knew how much Willis enjoyed video games, you’d help him out by voting for him repeatedly.

Make sure to share this post to your Facebook page and to use the #VoteWillis hashtag on Twitter as well. Results will be announced on April 11.

I guess I’ll vote for him this week since PETA has been trying to keep Vick from having anymore marketing success with this competition for the Cover. Hopefully the choice will be taken out of our hands the next round.

I’d rather not tempt the Gods of all that is Madden, but if anyone could break the curse, Bam Bam can. Chuck Norris crosses the street when walking on the same sidewalk Willis does. xD

Obviously one of the most talented and gifted athlete of our time. He is also seems to be a great person given his past. He is a welcome addition to the franchise and the NFL as a whole. I wish him the best in the rest of his days regardless of if he is voted to be on the cover or not. Niners for life!
