Vote Willis for 2012 Madden Cover

Posted by Taylor Price on April 1, 2011 – 2:40 PM

Sixteen players remain in a voting tournament that decides who graces the cover of EA Sports’ “Madden NFL 12” football video game. Out of the tournament’s remaining players, only one plays defense.

That player is none other than 49ers four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Patrick Willis.

The cornerstone of the team’s defense since 2007 advanced through the first round of the tournament by defeating the entire fan base of the Seattle Seahawks, commonly known as “The 12th Man.” Willis won by a 54-46 percentage margin.

Now he faces an even greater foe in round two, Super Bowl XL MVP Hines Ward of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The second-round voting concludes on April 3, with results being announced the following day.

Make sure to help Willis win the tournament by voting often. You can help spread the word by sharing this post to your Facebook and Twitter pages. We also encourage you to use the Twitter hashtag #VoteWillis to increase awareness.

  41. By Ricordo on Apr 4, 2011 | Reply

@Ali you’re right. Drew Brees never got hurt, he just didn’t make it to the Super Bowl again. @Niner4life I hope you’re right as well. Instead of calling it a good curse, lets call it a blessing, lol! Since our players always be hurt and the team hasn’t been to the playoffs since Mariucci maybe it’ll work out for the best.

  42. By niner4life on Apr 4, 2011 | Reply

YUP WILLIS SHOULD WIN THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  43. By Festus Banjo on Apr 4, 2011 | Reply

Nate Davis should be on the cover..All his genius fans on this site could put it on their bathroom sink.

  44. By Thomas on Apr 4, 2011 | Reply

Madden Curse hasn’t been broken, if you don’t end up injured you end up having a bad year. At the end of the 2009 season Favre and the Jets had a horrible down stretch losing 4 of their last 5 games and missed the playoffs. Not to mention Favre ended up being injured that year but didn’t tell anyone. This past year’s Madden cover boy Drew Brees threw 22 interceptions (2nd in the league) and the defending Super Bowl champs ended up losing to the 7-9 Seahawks. Seems the only way the Madden Curse can be somewhat avoided is if you put TWO players on the cover. Even though the curse end up getting Troy Polumalu, Fitgerald had a productive season ending up with 97 receptions, 1,092 yards receiving, 12 touchdown catches and a Pro Bowl appearance. The Madden Curse is still very much in effect!!!!

madden curse smannin curse PAT TRICK WILL IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  46. By oscar on Apr 4, 2011 | Reply

how many times have patrick willis been hurt in his career and missed more then two games???
his young still give him the cover and the streek of madden video game jinx would be done with him, trust the way patrick willis plays and trains i dont see him getting hurt maybe the players he talks get injured but not him his iron man and the heart and sole of the defense

Vote For Patrick Willis every year since his been in the league his been a pro bowler his well deserve of the cover!
