Posted by Taylor Price on March 30, 2011 – 9:01 AM

At the age of 12, Thia Megia had her first taste of auditioning for a singing competition. It wasn’t quite like the contest the Hayward native is currently in, but the young singer made it through an audition process to become a 49ers National Anthem singer in 2007.

Posted by Taylor Price on March 28, 2011 – 8:36 AM

Week four of our pre-draft coverage shifts its focus from the ACC to the Big-12. All week long we’ll take a closer look at another one of the nation’s premiere conferences and its best talent.

Starting off, we’ll examine Missouri junior quarterback Blaine Gabbert and his chances of being the No. 1 overall pick. After Gabbert, there’s plenty of talent to explore from a number of schools in the conference (including Danville native and Nebraska running back Roy Helu Jr. pictured above).

Statement From NFL Executive VP Jeff Pash

Posted by Scott Kegley on March 19, 2011 – 1:43 PM

NFL Executive Vice President Jeff Pash issued this statement regarding the current work stoppage:

“We are pleased now to have received a reply to the comprehensive proposal that we made eight days ago. The points made in the players’ letter are precisely the kind of points that collective bargaining is intended to address.  Debating the merits of the offer in this fashion is what collective bargaining is all about. But we would note that three facts we have consistently identified over the past week are ignored and we therefore assume acknowledged. First, the proposal called for player costs of between $19 and $20 billion over the next four seasons; second, the player cost figure in 2011 was above the actual cash spending for 2009 and 2010; and third, the economic offer, combined with other elements of the proposal, was a substantial move by the clubs to keep negotiations going and avoid a work stoppage and related litigation.
