Posted by Taylor Price on February 16, 2011 – 3:29 PM

The new 49ers coordinators met with the Bay Area media on Wednesday for the first time since joining the organization last month. Each was certainly impressive in doing so.

Greg Roman (pictured above), Brad Seely and Vic Fangio each took turns addressing cameras and reporters, where the offensive, special teams and defensive coordinator spoke at length on a wide variety of topics.

49ers Fan Forum Recap

Posted by Taylor Price on February 16, 2011 – 12:28 PM

February is a crucial month on the NFL calendar. Coaches and scouts are preparing like mad men to get their draft boards ready, all while analyzing their own roster and how it compares to 31 other teams. And with the 49ers ushering in a new head coach and a recently promoted general manager, there’s plenty of work to be done around the facility.

But that didn’t stop Jim Harbaugh and Trent Baalke from taking time to speak directly to the fans last night. The new coach and GM fielded an hour’s worth of questions (from 4,000 submissions) as part of the team’s latest Fan Forum.

Nedney’s Victory Lives On

Posted by Taylor Price on February 15, 2011 – 10:46 AM

I can remember it like it was yesterday. Well, it was last April, but the memories associated are quite vivid. There I was in the 49ers locker room on my way to interview a player when I came across a very frazzled, un-Joe Nedney like, Joe Nedney.

The 49ers veteran place kicker was not himself that day, initially at least. The 15-year pro was asked to take part in the Robo Games, specifically to compete in a field goal kicking contest against a robot named Ziggy.

Having no idea on what he had gotten himself into, Nedney braced for the unknown. But hours later, his demeanor changed quite a bit.

Walking with the Champs at Pebble Beach

Posted by Scott Kegley on February 9, 2011 – 4:38 PM

I spent Tuesday afternoon walking five holes at Pebble Beach with a camera and a cell phone (to Tweet of course) with several football and baseball stars from the 49ers and Giants.

It was all for a good cause of course. The goal of yesterday’s Google Charity Shootout was to raise money for the 49ers Foundation and the Giants Community Fund.  I was there to report on the event for 49ers.com and share the uniqueness of the event.

The 49ers team boasted a combined 11 Super Bowl rings between them while the Giants squad came to the tee with glistening 2010 World Series rings to their credit.

Two More Honors for No. 52

Posted by Taylor Price on February 7, 2011 – 4:25 PM

By now, 49ers fans and Web site writers alike should be accustomed to Patrick Willis winning awards.

When you’re arguably the best at what you do, people will compliment your performances by way of hardware. And for the second year in a row, Willis has added to his mantle being named the NFL Alumni’s Linebacker of the Year. The most recent award is a nice addition to the Pro Bowl and first-team All Pro nods he received this offseason.

NFL Draft Scout’s Rob Rang is quite versed in the ins and outs of this year’s draft-eligible prospects. He spends a serious amount of time breaking down film and analyzing potential NFL players.

We caught up with him in Mobile, Ala., to hear his thoughts on the 49ers draft prospects and reached out to him again this week to hear his Senior Bowl synopsis as well as preview this week’s NFLPA All-Star game (formerly known as the Texas vs. the Nation game).

Canton Calling?

Posted by Sam Good on February 4, 2011 – 8:08 AM

They haven’t suited up and stepped on the gridiron in years, but Saturday could be the biggest day in four former 49ers’ NFL careers.

Linebacker Charles Haley, cornerback Deion Sanders and defensive ends Chris Doleman and Richard Dent are finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and hearing their names called would be the capstone to some remarkable careers.

Montana and Rice on Radio Row

Posted by Taylor Price on February 3, 2011 – 12:08 PM

You can’t get through Super Bowl week and all the media attention surrounding it without discussing the history of the big game.

Who better to share their insights on the magnitude of the event than 49ers Hall of Famers Joe Montana and Jerry Rice? Not a bad choice considering the quarterback-wide receiver duo hold a combined seven Super Bowl rings between them.
