49ers.com Heads Back to Indy

Posted by Scott Kegley on February 22, 2011 – 12:43 PM

Each year, front office staffs from all 32 NFL teams head to Indianapolis to see the top college prospects perform as they try to improve their stock for the draft. Taylor Price and I won’t be running the 40-yard dash (wouldn’t want to make anyone look bad with our sub-4.4 times), but we will be in attendance as well to cover the event with blogs, stories, videos, photos and more.

Our plane leaves San Jose bright and early Wednesday morning and we’re scheduled to arrive in Indy in time for media availability on Thursday. We’ll be in town through Sunday with the various position groups taking their turns stopping by the media center at Lucas Oil Stadium.

And just like last year, we’ll document our entire trip with our handy Flip cams.  If there are any players in particular that you would like us to talk to, let us know by dropping a comment at the bottom of this blog post.

With three stages and over a dozen additional interview tables, it’s a tough task to talk to everyone that comes through, but we will certainly do our best. We know Indianapolis fairly well thanks to four trips in the last 20 months, but restaurant recommendations are also welcome!

Make sure to check out our Combine Central page throughout the week as it will be constantly updated with live updates from the event.

Stay tuned.

You should check out Steven Sheffield, a backup QB from Texas Tech as a late round or FA prospect. Always something magical happens when he comes into the game. But don’t think he was invited to the combine.

If you all can track him down, try and get an interview with Brandon Harris (Miami). I would like to get to know more about the kid.

Don’t know how much you will be able to get around, but here’s a short list by position as well. If you can get a few of these guys (which I’m sure you will), that would be awesome too. Thanks.

    Colin Kaepernick (Nevada)
    Ricky Stanzi (Iowa)
    T.J. Yates (UNC)
    Dion Lewis (Pittsburgh)
    Titus Young (Boise State)
    Tandon Doss (Indiana)
    Vincent Brown (San Diego State)
    Greg Little (UNC)
    Cecil Shorts (Mount Union)

    Cameron Jordan (Cal)
    Von Miller (Texas A&M)
    Brooks Reed (Arizona)
    Wayne Daniels (TCU)
    Patrick Peterson (LSU)
*Brandon Harris (Miami -as mentioned above)
    Jimmy Smith (Colorado)
    Aaron Williams (Texas)
    Ras I-Dowling (Virginia)
    Chris Rucker (Michigan State)
    Richard Sherman (Stanford)

Sorry if that’s too much. I’m just really interested in those specific players. Any help on interviews with them would be greatly appreciated.

Im not sure if he was invited to the combine but if he is then take a look at Andrew Rich from BYU. he is a good athlete with a mean streak and is VERY underrated. he is a OUTSTANDING young man and has all the tools to excel at the next level. this would be a steal in the late rounds.

I agree with the Miller, Peterson, Amukamara interviews. Would also like to hear from Christian Ponder, Pat Devlin and Andy Dalton.

Would like to know about all these players.
