Willis Named First-Team All-Pro

Posted by Sam Good on January 24, 2011 – 1:37 PM

At this point, it’s almost becoming a routine for Patrick Willis.

Four seasons into his NFL career, and now the 49ers inside linebacker has as many All-Pro selections. On Monday the Associated Press announced its All-Pro Team, and sure enough, Willis was on the list – first team.

This marks the third time Willis has been named first-team All-Pro, and he also has one second-team selection.

The 6-foot-1, 240 pounder was one of just two defensive players to make the first team for a second consecutive season.

Despite missing the 49ers’ Week 17 win over the Arizona Cardinals with a broken hand, Willis still led the team with 153 tackles in 2010. He finished second in tackles-for-loss (seven) and sacks (six), and also forced two fumbles.

Perhaps equally as important as his statistics was the leadership Willis provided throughout the season. He was one of the team’s vocal and emotional leaders, and continued to push himself and his teammates despite the disappointing results.

Willis was also named to his fourth straight Pro Bowl this season, but he will not participate in Sunday’s NFL All-Star Game because of the broken hand.

Here’s a list of the 2010 NFL All-Pro First Team:
