With the 7th-overall pick in the 2011 draft…the 49ers could very well select one of the players participating in next week’s Under Armour Senior Bowl.  It wouldn’t be out of character for the 49ers, having selected Patrick Willis after he played in the 2007 Senior Bowl, not to mention Mike Iupati and Taylor Mays who played in last year’s game.

That’s why Taylor Price and I will be headed to Mobile, AL this year to bring you as much coverage as possible all throughout the week.

We’ve also created a “Senior Bowl Central” page on 49ers.com, which we will be updating with news, blogs, photos and videos each day during practice.  Take a look at the list of players who will be participating.  If there are any players, you would like us to talk to and learn more about, let us know in the comments section of this blog or send us a note on Twitter.

Here’s an overview of the week:

Monday: 12:45-4:15 pm PT (North and South squads practice at different stadiums)

Tuesday-Thursday: 7:30-9:00 am PT (North practices at Laad-Peebles Stadium)

Tuesday-Thursday: 10:45-1:15 (South practices at Laad-Peebles Stadium)

Friday: Both teams have a walk-through at the stadium

We will also stay to cover the game on Saturday, January 29 at 1:00 pm PT.  The game will be televised on NFL Network.

Stay tuned to 49ers.com!

Like most niner fans, I want as much information as possible on all of the QB’s involved.

I heard that Baalke is going but Harbaugh is staying in the office to evaluate film of upcoming FA’s. I think it would rather be the other way around.

  4. By Ray on Jan 21, 2011 | Reply

Could you guys talk to Greg McElroy…I think he could be a Tom Brady in waiting…pro style offense and very accurate!!!!

  5. By JR on Jan 21, 2011 | Reply

Coach knows what he is doing, he does not need us fans to say who should go or stay. All I know is that the San Fransisco 49ers are going to be the best team in the NFL this next season and 2012 Superbowl Champions!

  6. By Rick on Jan 22, 2011 | Reply

Baalke is doing what he’s best at; evaluating young talent. He was brought up as a scout, remember. Coach knows whats best…I’ll give him that latitude for now.

I look for the 49ers to be better in all aspects of the game, in my honest opion though I would like to see us get a quaterback for the future. Alex smith is not our answer and we need to move on. I am anxious to see harbaugh and his staff at work I can not wait for next season

  8. By Isaac on Jan 22, 2011 | Reply

can you talk to Nate irving ILB, Matt Szczur WR, and Colin Kaepernick QB

  9. By MikeG on Jan 22, 2011 | Reply

I’d like to know more about Powell, Stanzi, and Young. I think they have great NFL development potential.

  10. By Jonah on Jan 23, 2011 | Reply

JR, thats the funniest thing ever. Next season 2012 Superbowl Champs? Yeah right, get real. I like the faith, but it ain’t happening, not with the receivers we have right now.

  11. By BD on Jan 23, 2011 | Reply

Jonah, back off brotha. Let JR have all the optimism in the world. While Superbowl champs is a longshot for anyone, I like to think we have a legitimate chance now. Any guesses on who the 9ers new starting QB will be. I still think that Alex Smith is the best available veteran QB but he would be stupid to hang around and let us fans beat him up more. We have been too unfair to that guy. So, who is going to be the 49ers next starting QB?

heres a list of players i would like tv49 to speak with: QB andy dalton(TCU), QB Colin Kaepernick(Nev), QB Jake Locker(Was), FB Owen Marecic (Stanford), OLB Von Miller(TAM), WR Austin Pettis(BSU), WR Titus Young(BSU), DB Quinton Carter(Oklahoma).

  13. By REDSTAR808 on Jan 23, 2011 | Reply

Let try and bring Carson Palmer over and find a back up QB & RB during the draft.

  14. By 49ersfanjeremy on Jan 23, 2011 | Reply

I would like the 49ers to speak with ryan mallet of akansas first. And now that Carson Palmer wants out of cincy we should at least talk to him and see what can or can not be done. We need a qb real bad

  15. By az 9ernut on Jan 23, 2011 | Reply

we need a VET QB so the rookie qb can yes 9er fan learn the REAL BILL WALSH WEST COAST OFFENSE not the wanna be everybody else has crammed down our throats .. i have seen mastermind bill run that offense its AWSOME when ran bills way .. just REMEMBER 9er nation another qb means more cussing on our behalf and headaches and joblosses for coaches because our team gets lazy so lite a fire under there butts and get this team rolling cuz we got the talent already just need the desire GOOOOOO 9eeerrrrsssss we got this s#!t TEAM

  16. By BadNewz9er on Jan 23, 2011 | Reply

Sione Fua and any other Stanford player

  17. By chris on Jan 23, 2011 | Reply

we need a good qb and please stop changing coaches around!!!!

  18. By Tyrone on Jan 23, 2011 | Reply

Just like I thought they should of pick up Vick when they had the Chance they should give Vince Young a look with this Fresh team He will fit just fine in our West coast off.

  19. By josh on Jan 23, 2011 | Reply

we jus better pick som 1 who makes this team better right now

  20. By Jorge on Jan 23, 2011 | Reply

Acquire n.asomugha from free agency let n. clements go, draft locker in 1st round, defensive linemen 2nd round, problem solved…. one more thing cut chilo rachal he is horrible, most of the pressure came from his side.

  21. By adam on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

The niners dont need Vince Young. He will bring the team down.

  22. By KDB on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

That’s for sure-one can’t win the big game too many key picks (Vick) even back in Atlanta, and the other is a head case (Young).

  23. By 49ersfanjeremy on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

I agree jorge that the niners need to cut clements because he has not lived up to expectations in my opinion. And yes chilo rachal is not to good either. I say we get palmer if not then draft a solid qb in the draft like mallet or a west coast ready qb. I am interested to see who we keep and cut this year.

  24. By Alabama 49er on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

Time to cut our losses with Alex Smith. Too early to tell with Troy Smith, would go for a proven QB this time….Palmer from Bengals is interesting, as is Kolb in Philly as they are no doubt going to stick with Vick. Cheers Mates.

  25. By mike on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

We need to sign asomugha, trade for kolb or sign palmer, draft peterson or amukamara with first pick, then take a qb in second round and develop him.

  26. By Samori on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

I enjoy reading what other faithful niners are writing about, but we need to go back to our niner ways, and sign veterans to the team with rookie talent around them. Signing Namdi from Oakland would be a great pick up, A qauterback in this years draft could work a young qauterback Cam Newton would be nice he’s just the best athlete out there why not get the best.

  27. By Samori on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

I don’t like the attitude with getting Palmer, he’s not a top QB he’s not good at all really he wont come to the 49ers dominating the league we should go with Cam Newton you got to believe in the best talent out there he’s got a strong arm he can run he’s a big physical specimen, thats been winning for a lon time.

  28. By George on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

Asomugha would be another waste of money people… he had 5 int in 2006 and 3 since then . . he is over rated. The QB situation will be handled through free agency and maybe they will draft one in the 3rd round. Baalke and Harbaugh are too smart to waste a 1st rd pick on a QB in this draft.

  29. By JOSEPH GUILLORY NUMBER 209 214 4883 on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

I WANNA SEE A QUATERBACK THAT IS ACCURATE PLEASE IM A BIG FAN.. 49ERS FAN FOR LIFE

  30. By Paul on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

I think we should talk to Cincinatti about getting Carson Palmer since he wants a trade. How about that boost to our offense?

  31. By Paul on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

Palmer isn’t in the top 10 but he is close and would be a nice gap until we can get a young qb trained.

  32. By adam on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

I thik we should try to get palmer. With the rest of the draft we should get a top corner back like Patrick Peterson or Prince Amukamara with the 7th pick, for next year we should try to get Andrew Luck and have him sit under palmer until he’s ready.

  33. By Derik on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

i disagree that our recievers are crap morgan is developing nicely vernon davis is the best TE in the game we need to feed him the ball the guy is a freak of nature and makes things happen crab tree is a little lazy if you ask me but he has hands and can make plays if he doesnt have to make rediculous efforts to catch a ball he rarely got a good ball but we will see i have confindence that we will be better this year

  34. By Derik on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

whoa adam thats a big gamble to take carson palmer he had a really bad season i would rather stick with alex smith

  35. By Derik on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

i think kolb would be a good addition

  36. By 49ersfanjeremy on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

I would rather have carson palmer or kevin kolb then getg alex smith back, we have given him chance after chance he is to inconsistent.

  37. By waldo49ers on Jan 24, 2011 | Reply

to the coachs. my frist 49ers game John Brodie and Ken Wilerd were on the team. Please when it comes to the draft don,t take A work out mad man or a made up star by the press, take A football player. and please find a real A QB.

  38. By adam on Jan 25, 2011 | Reply

Kolb would take to much to get. They would want our 7th pick.

  39. By 49ersfanjeremy on Jan 25, 2011 | Reply

kolb is not worth are 7th pick if he was then he would be starting for the eagles

  40. By gabriel on Jan 25, 2011 | Reply

dont waorry about what it takes to get Kolb. he is worth any second, third round pick. the 49ers wont give up there 7th pick, other teams have got more for less. plus the eagles need to save every pretty penny if they want to keep Vick. So get kolb and get Prince from nebraska with the 7th pick. we will be just fine this year…GET KOLB

  41. By gabriel on Jan 25, 2011 | Reply

there is no QB in this draft worth developing. focus on defense and maybe another RB or even WR just to make your offense unbelievable. better yet stick to the defense get another CB, DL, DE. QB is not the answer in this draft. if you want to develop a QB, develope Kolb in Harbaughs offense. Go get WilLiams out of Vtech for a RB….No QB thats nonsense

  42. By adam on Jan 26, 2011 | Reply

I agree i dont want Kolb

  43. By gabriel on Jan 26, 2011 | Reply

if not kolb, then who. there is no one out there in th nfl or the draft…we need to win now and kolb is young.. what is there to think about. gabbert wouldnt fit harbaughs system…think about it

  44. By adam on Jan 27, 2011 | Reply

If they take our 2nd round pick for Kolb then i say do it, but i dont want him if it takes our 7th pick

  45. By ChickenFriedRice on Jan 31, 2011 | Reply

    Carson Palmer.

    Cam Newton.

    Andy Dalton.

    in that order.

  46. By ChickenFriedRice on Jan 31, 2011 | Reply

sign Champ Bailey on the cheap and have him play opposite Clements. Y’all would be surprised at how much better Clements would be as a result of Bailey’s presence.

Move Shawntae Spencer as your nickel corner and have him compete with Brown for playing time. Don’t resign Goldson because we have Mays and Smith. And then draft safety Moore out of UCLA.

  47. By gabriel on Jan 31, 2011 | Reply

forget a safety and we dont need bailey. forget all thoughts about drafting a QB in the first couple rounds. you can get andy dalton in the 3rd round. and why would you pick up bailey? he is as washed out as clements. draft prince have him play opposite clements, dont resign goldston, mays needs to learn how to cover better. and wash any thought of cam newton out of your head. we have harbaugh a pro style coach. Vick was a lucky shot, newton is no vick. Please people, trade for kolb, draft prince in the 1st, a DL in the second and Dalton in the 3rd or 4th.
