Singletary Appreciates 49ers Passion
Posted by on November 30, 2010 – 3:40 PM
When ESPN cameras showed the 49ers before the start of Monday’s game against Arizona, tears were running down the face of tight end Vernon Davis.
The 49ers emotional leader was rallying his teammates at midfield much like he does every week. But this time was different.

Congratulations is also in order for Edward J. DeBartolo, Jr., Roger Craig, Charles Haley and Richard Dent after they were named semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2011. In all, 7 of the semifinalists have ties to the 49ers. The candidates will be narrowed down to a list of finalists before the 2011 class is announced on February 5. You can also vote online.

49ers Talk Turkey Day
Posted by on November 25, 2010 – 10:35 AMThe staff at 49ers.com spoke with several players this week about their favorite aspects of Thanksgiving. Here’s what they had to say.
On Thanksgiving…
TE Delanie Walker says:
“The best part is family getting together, telling old stories about when you were kids. I remember playing in a Turkey Bowl. It wasn’t with the family, but it would be the kids in my neighborhood against another neighborhood. We’d go to an elementary school, meet up and get a big football game going on. This year, my girl is going to do the cooking. Most likely, I’m going to chill. The coaches are giving us most the day off so I’m going to get off my feet. I don’t know if we’re going to have turkey this year, we might do some catfish just to do something different.”

On the Phone with Whisenhunt and Wilson
Posted by on November 24, 2010 – 4:16 PMIt’s been more than a month since the Arizona Cardinals won a football game, which can feel like an eternity in the NFL.
So even though the Cardinals are just two games out of first place in the NFC West, a division title is the last thing on their minds. Adrian Wilson said he and his teammates need to worry about getting back in the win column before they can start thinking about the playoffs.

Monday’s Locker Room Talk: Nov. 22
Posted by on November 22, 2010 – 5:13 PM
In his Monday press conference, Mike Singletary repeatedly took the blame for his team’s 3-7 record with six games remaining. After opening his remarks with the injuries from Sunday’s 21-0 loss to Tampa Bay, Singletary took full responsibility for the team’s performance Sunday too.
“As you look at our team, in particular as we talk about the game yesterday, why we lost the game? That would be on me.”
“Anything that happened in the game is on me because it all ultimately comes back to me. I understand that.”

Live Game Blog: 49ers vs. Buccaneers
Posted by on November 21, 2010 – 12:01 PM
The 49ers will be going for their third straight win today when the go up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-3). The 49ers are just two games off the pace of the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West and a win would certainly keep them in the hunt.
Troy Smith will also be making his third consecutive start and Mike Singletary announced earlier in the week that Alex Smith would be active and would be the backup. Joe Staley will also be out with a broken fibula. Singletary did not say who would start at left tackle so I’ll have that update once it’s official.
The weather at Candelstick is pretty nice right now. The field was covered and the grounds crew rolled off a lot of water. Taylor noted that it looked like the world’s largest slip and slide and it reminded me of the scene in Bull Durham when the players slide around the base paths.
Stay tuned for the inactives 90 minutes before the game. I will be talking to Ted Robinson shortly for our “Teddy Football” segment as well. Click here to listen to the audio.
