Saturday Photos From London

Posted by Taylor Price on October 30, 2010 – 12:48 PM

What a day. A walk through at Wembley Stadium followed by a pep rally at Trafalgar Square with 20,000 screaming fans (many in 49ers red) made this Saturday a very unique and memorable day.

We headed off to the world famous stadium in the afternoon for a walk through and let me tell you, Wembley is an amazing place. We all were in awe of the complex, complete with a great locker room set up for the players and football staff.

If you’re attending the game, you’ll be in awe too. That’s a promise.

Afterwards, a handful of players and Coach Singletary boarded a shuttle or “coach” to Trafalgar Square downtown for a 49ers pep rally. Current players Isaac Sopoaga and Ricky Jean Francois entertained the crowd with their signature dances. Sopoaga performed the “Haka,” while Jean Francois busted out “Peanut Butter Jelly Time,” and the crowd went wild.

Singletary spoke as well as did defensive line coach Jim Tomsula, who has a history of coaching in Europe.

Former 49ers greats, Jerry Rice, Roger Craig, Keena Turner and Guy McIntyre also spoke to the packed crowd.

It was a great day all around, to get a better feel for what we experienced, check out the photos from the trip so far.

To bad the NFL couldn’t select a better football representative than the 49ers to play overseas.

I was at the game and spoke to a lot of British fans, a surprisingly huge number, who were totally into the game, yelling wildly in support of the Niners, and thought that the second half had all the fun and excitement they had hoped for given the expense of the tickets. I disagree with Mark. The Niners were an outstanding representative of the NFL yesterday. That is unless you asked my friend from San Francisco’s wife who is from Denver. She’d claim the opposite! Go Niners!
