49ers Dress Women for Success
Posted by on October 28, 2010 – 10:48 AMWith the team in London, members of the 49ers staff made sure there was still a weekly Community Tuesday event in the Bay Area. Staff members teamed up with VISA volunteersto help at Career Closet, a non-profit organization which helps women dress for a business career.
The volunteers worked with six participants in the CalWORKS program and provided them with new professional wardrobes as well as résumé tips to help them re-launch their lives and take the next step towards gaining employment.
“Now when I go for the interview, I’m going to look more presentable and more serious about the job,” said Melissa, one of the clients. “I appreciate, and I just want to say thank you to the 49ers and Career Closet. The women that are from the 49ers team, they really helped a lot with the clothing and shoes and scarves and I really had a great time here. They were really a big help.”
The Career Closet is dedicated to empowering women to re-enter the workplace equipped with everything they need to make a great first impression, land the job they want and improve their lives. Many clients at Career Closet have faced a variety of challenges throughout their lives including being victims of domestic violence, battles with substance abuse and economical struggles.
The CalWORKs program provides temporary financial assistance and employment focused services to underprivileged families.

This is a wonderful thing the 49ers organization is doing. Any thing that will help women help themselves is a good thing. 49ers keep up the good work. Wish I could be there in SF to help.
