Live Game Blog: 49ers vs. Broncos
Posted by on October 31, 2010 – 7:49 AM
It’s been a long road trip, but gameday has finally arrived at Wembley Stadium. It’s been a busy week, but more or less business as usual with practices on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before moving into a hotel in London on Friday. On Saturday, the team went through a walk through at Wembley before attending a rally at Trafalgar square. The biggest news of the week came just before Wednesday’s practice when Singletary announced that Troy Smith would start at quarterback.
If you have any questions for Ted Robinson in this week’s “Teddy Football,” please add them in the comments section as I’ll talk to him roughly an hour before kickoff.
Here’s a photo gallery from today’s game.

Wembley Now More of a ‘Home Away From Home’
Posted by on October 31, 2010 – 7:49 AM
Previous NFL international games held at Wembley have turned muddy do to wet weather, but the hope is that won’t be the case today when the 49ers play the Denver Broncos.
Roger Maslin, the Managing Director at Wembley National Stadium, oversaw the installation of a new playing surface since last year’s game. The field is now roughly three-percent synthetic and should hold up very well with all the various sports that are played here.
“We want Wembley to be a home away from home for the teams when they play here,” said Maslin.
Below is the transcript of my interview with Maslin just a few hours before kickoff.

What a day. A walk through at Wembley Stadium followed by a pep rally at Trafalgar Square with 20,000 screaming fans (many in 49ers red) made this Saturday a very unique and memorable day.

Neither coach is right or wrong, but both believe their strategy gives their team the best shot at winning.

The 49ers are in the middle of a long road trip, playing the Carolina Panthers today before leaving for London after the game. After the Giants won last night and punched their ticket to the World Series, the 49ers will look to follow suit today. As Giants closer Brian Wilson would say…”FACT.”
