The national stage is set for tonight’s showdown between the 49ers and the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints. The Monday Night Football crew is set up down on the field for the 5:30 kickoff. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN and locally on CW 44.
The 49ers injury report lists Eric Heitmann as out, Ted Ginn, William James, Chilo Rachal and Kyle Williams as doubtful, Phillip Adams as questionable, Patrick Willis, Adam Snyder, Ahmad Brooks and Alex Boone as probable.
Jerry Rice will be inducted into 49ers Hall of Fame at halftime and have his jersey retired. As you can tell from the picture above, it should be a great halftime ceremony!
The inactive list for both teams will be posted 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
I spoke with 49ers broadcaster Ted Robinson before the game for our weekly segment “Teddy Football.” Ted answered a few questions that fans submitted so if you’d like to have your questions answered in the future, stay tuned to our blog throughout the week or send them in on Twitter using the tag #TeddyFootball. Sean Payton is over it.
He’s past last year’s Super Bowl title. It’s not that the New Orleans Saints coach wants to forget about winning it all, but he’s moved on.
That was last year. Now his sole focus is on the 2010 season, specifically this week’s game against the 49ers.

Instead of stewing about Sunday’s 31-6 frustrating road loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the 49ers are attacking Week 2 with an even greater sense of urgency.

The 2010 season is here as the 49ers face their NFC West rivals in Week 1. It’s on overcast day at Qwest field with a slight chance of rain – should be good football weather.
Adding to the momentum of a 4-0 preseason, the 49ers signed Vernon Davis to a five-year contract extension on Saturday. We caught up with Vernon for a 1 on 1 interview in the team hotel just before he and Coach Singletary addressed the media on a conference call.
We’ll have the inactive list for both teams 90 minutes prior to kickoff.

The 49ers might not recognize their opponents when they travel to Seattle for the season opener on Sunday.
Yes Seattle is a division rival, and yes the teams have faced each other twice a year since 2002, but with a new head coach and 27 new players on their squad, the Seahawks have a totally different look and feel to them this season.
The same can’t be said for the 49ers, at least that’s what three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Matt Hasselbeck said in his conference call with Bay Area reporters on Wednesday.
