Teddy.. Are the problems really just the play calling? or is it Alex Smith’s lack of ability to finish drives? Also, when do you think it would be time to consider giving Carr a start?

Why not start in spread with Gore & Westbrook in backfield? Open up the D, create running lanes. Maybe even tho an option pass. Throw the opponents off stride?

    Hi Ted,

Do you think Taylor Mays will get some playing time at Safety and possibly work his way into the starting role by season’s end?

    Hey Ted,
My question is about the defense. What steps do we need to make this season to become one of the elite defenses in the league?

Do you think that the media and fans alike have over reacted to the Seattle game? Should Niners fans worry?

I think Alex Smith Is an ok QB, but he is not good enough, and he is making the 49ers look bad, how many games you think he have to perform the way he performed last week which was awfull by the way, untill he is benched? and I think we shouldnt just put David Carr in there I liked Troy Smith better

We need to be positive because all these negative comments are useless and I think for the 49ers to win monday night they will need to win three things, the D needs to perform like there fans know they can, also with special teams, but most important they need to get pressure on Brees and protect Smith/make holes for Gore.

i thought the seahawks out played us in last weeks game. we need to work on the secondary, it dont have to be a pick every play. bat the ball down, first hit tackles. are line needs to get in there alot more, clog the holes. but alex smith needs to distribute the ball, a team revolves around there quarterback. take control as captain and lead your team to victory. if we pull a win vs the saints it will be a confidents booster. go niners

What # will Ryan Mallet be wearing next year? Crabtree already has #15, what about him wearing #12…thats a good QB number. Go Niners!

what do you think our cornerback situation is? it seems to me that we’re pretty desperate for another solid corner. nate and spencer are solid enough, but tarrell brown seems too confused all the time and will james seems like he might be too banged up this season to make any kind of contribution. Also, WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH KYLE WILLIAMS? this is a guy that could help us immediately and immensly with his talents. Hes been out for over a month with a “sprained toe”, eventually the kid needs to learn that nfl players never play 100% and need to suck it up some times

My question involves all 3 phases of the game. Offense, Defense, and Special Teams. With the offense, I believe we are EXTREMELY predictable. Every team knows that we have a work horse in Frank Gore. We also spent some money on Mike Crabtree…lets use him. I have been hearing “the chemistry between Crabtree and Smith has improved.” I would like to see that on gameday. Lets mix it up on these teams! Bring in a lil surprise and show we are more than just a pound the ball team then throw it when we need to come back. We don’t have that kind of opportunity against the Saints. With the defense, we did well stat wise, but they still scored multiple tds. I think we can step up a little more. With the special teams, I have this very strange feeling we are starting off another year with the same Special Team issues. No one knows who will return kicks and punts. I know we have some injuries in that area which is understandable. It seemed as though we were still shaky with that. As a Niner fan of too many years, I see more potential with this group than I have seen in a long time. Am I wrong about what I have written?

Im very curious as to why Dixon didnt get any carries in the short yardage and goal line plays when Gore was obviously getting stuffed running it up the middle and why we did not see Westbrook at all either. Whats the point in having 2 great backs and a power guy if they arent gonna be used?

Why doesn’t someone inform Mike Singletary & 49ers front office that the answer to their problems is the other Mike (Vick). GET HIM !!!!!

What is it that the 49ers see in alex smith. if he cant throw a 5 yard pass to score a touchdown he needs to find a different career. why cant you guys see this. every week we go in thinking he will do great things but never does. after how many years of doing this are we finally going to say hes not the man??? we have everything we need to win besides leadership and stability at qb. now vick has got to be availble if kolb is going to be there starter. PLS PLS trade for vick or anyone that cant stand in the pocket and make a 5 yard throw would be nice. or at least give one of our other qbs a chance. alex doesnt even read his reads just throws to the first person if the call. it so obvious that he is not a qb at a professional level. why cant the 49ers see this?????????

The 49ers now have 3 good backs (Gore, Westbrook, and Dixon the rookie). All three of them can run and catch. Why on earth didn’t they even put Westbrook in one time last week (and I don’t think they used Dixon either). Why not run plays with all three of these guys in the backfield – keep the defense guessing if it will be a run or short out pass? That’s my question: Why don’t they run plays using three talented backs in the backfield at one time?

ok sir. its obvious that alex smith is not the guy. david carr hasn’t proven to be iether. th QB spot is obviously our miggest hole. Why have we not made any moves to bring in a “franchise quarterback”? we missed out on drew brees, we didn’t try for matt cassel, and last year i thought we should’ve been in on the michael vick thing. we have failed at qb year after year. all the other pieces are there, why haven’t we put in an offer for vick? now the price has probably gone up. he’s a perfect fit though. our pass blocking isn’t great and when it breaks down he can create plays for us instead of stand there scared like a deer in the headlights! (alex smith) lets go get a real qb and start winning again…being mediocre is getting old.

alex smith is suck so bad…..he play like high school kid….other team 4th and 5th back up quaterback in the NFl they still play better than alex smith….they should fire him in the 2 last year ago…2010 season go down 4-12 and dead last of the NFC west standing…..guaranteed….

0-3,… yes another loss. Who can we blame this time? Maybe we should give credit to the Chief’s offensive and defensive lines for this is the way our Niners should be playing. The Chief coaching staff previaled through exploiting the Niner rookie positions especialy Anthony Davis. The intentional expierenced mental taunting got into Davis’s head. Davis broken down and the Chiefs attacked the open opportunity. What about down by three touchdowns late in the 3rd quarter and the Jimmy Raye’s offensive strategy of calling time consuming running plays? Niner to win “Football” is a triangular game of ” Physical,Mental and Rhythm. The team that utilizes this triangle best wins! What we need to do? Use all three running backs and both quarterbacks ,create competition. On defense correct secondary issues i.e. Chief’s flea flicker, Seahawk’s QB exploited the secondary etc. This season is going to be a long one for sure!

DIE HARD SINCE 1980 GOOO NINERS!!!!!!!!!

I am tired of seeing our team loose to the teams we expect them to win against. Why are we just trying to have Frank Gore keep running by himself so that he can keep getting his records only? Why not use Anothony Dixon, and Westbrook too. Who cares about records if we don’t win. Maybe be we should use the other running backs too, like the other teams do. I thought it is supposed to be a team effort trying to win. Not just trying to get one guy his thousand yards for the season. Lets try to win some games as a team.

Im sick of people saying Smith sucks… hes not the best and he has done alot worset in the past… I can tell a big imrpovement!!! Yea he has thrown 4 int in the last four game but all of them were tiped first… Is that his fault??? i dont think so… We need to start throwing the ball more!!!! Everyone knows we have a great running game. Lets show them we can throw now to… Look what smith did against the Saints!!!! Not too bad! Keep your heads up boys we got this!!!
