Well if you would have contribute than there would have been nothing to be unhappy about,oh well. p.s. good luck to you see you on week 1.

I was hoping Kentwan would pan out, but I had my doubts from the get-go. I don’t think he ever possessed the heart and mean streak that players need to play on the defense line. I wish him the best.

Balmer did not appear to want to put in the effort to be a first line guy. There were some doubts along this line when he came out of college. If there is any justice, Scott M would have given us a first round pick since he is at Seattle and must really like Balmer.

i had high hopes for kentwan as well, but i think it’s pretty obvious that he wasn’t doing the job he was hired to do.

what cracks me up is all the ramble going around online about how the 9ers made a bad decision by trading him to a division rival. if they knew what he HASN’T done for us… they’d understand.

i hope we make him look silly week 1…

Trading Balmer to a division rival was a good move for the Forty Niners.
Hope he makes the first squad!

Lets all forget about Balmer ! And lets all welcome Westbrook we have to all admit, he burned us when we played against him….Iam thrilled to add him to our backfield, he a great receiver! Great addition NINERS thanks!

Good riddance. However, hate to see a trade made within the division. Hope that he doesn’t come back to bite us!!!!

I sure hope they got a bag of chips from Seattle…that would be a fair trade

We got what we needed we didnt need westbrook. No disrespect to him but Anthony Dixon is the future behind Frank Gore and he needs as many reps as possible to get better. Did you guys see him last night. We would be a fool not to keep that guy. I hope we didnt pay Westbrook a lot of money. He will most likely be injured before the end of the season. Invest in the young talent that we have. They will progress quickly. I was very impressed with there first game on Sunday.

We were better off getting a veteran defensive line man to help out Justin Smith. If we had one more very quick defensive line man then Patrick and company wouldnt have to work as hard to pass rush the quartback. I am pissed we picked up Westbrook. We got the Eagles left overs.

I think we got westbrook for a sixth found pick next year. so why not pick him up?

ESPECIALLY NOW THAT VERNON DAVIS MIGHT END UP BEING QUESTIONABLE FROM NOW ON WITH HIS INJURY.

Trading Kentwan was a good move for the 9ers. There was never any hope for the guy to be a solid D-Lineman. Now we have an X-TRA DLINE spot open for someone else with some hope. As for Westbrook I couldn’t be happier. He’s a solid vetran back to spell Gore from time to time. Great reciever out of the backfield and another vetran for Anthony Dixon to learn from. (Sorry Boogie but Dixon isn’t ready to be Gore’s backup after 1 PRESEASON game)!!!! GO 9ERS!!!!

oh well time to move on he want money and we want winners go niners

Getting Westbrook was a good move. We needed depth and experience at that position. I liked what I saw in Dixon, solid back good size and punishing runner who knows how to finish off his runs.He reminded me of Roger Craig and Garrison Hearst at times. But I agree 1 preseason game against backups is a different story. He will need to learn blocking schemes. I believe the key in this season is the O line. The O line had better shore itself up or Smith will be in for a long season again. Smith or whoever is back there had better do some quick reads

I think westbrook was a solid pick up!!! I didnt like Balmer since the day we drafted him… i knew then he was gonna be a first round bust!!!! Boogie I agree that Dixon is a good player but hes has alot to learn… he did all 100 yards against the colts 2nd and 3rd team… i think with a year under his belt he will be that much better… especially with two great running backs to teach him!!!!

I too really thought that Kentwan would be a positive prospect for us. Who knows, maybe someday he’ll be a great player and we’ll remember how he used to be a niner at one point. It’s all good though. Our defense is top notch without him and adding Westbrook is going to be an awesome addition. Gore, Westbrook, Dixon! Do I hear Playoffs?

like coach mike said, “we want winners!” if coffee and balmer’s heart are not in the game then let them go and pursue something else. adding westbrook is a great addition and it will create a lot of mismatches for the defense. we final have consistency at running back, because when gore want down last year we struggled.

Good ,we dont want anyone that does want to be here. I am excited about this season. Is is going to be something special.

balmer is an ideal d’end in a 4-3 scheme,,he didnt fit our 4-3 and since he was a first rounder we had to hang on to him or the cap hit would have been extreme..thank you mike nolan,,balmer was his pick,,and he will flourish in seattle’s new 4-3 defense,,but so what if he has a good game or two against us we all know that one or two good plays doesnt win a championship right?and it opens up another roster spot,,,GET INTO CAMP ABRAYOU,,,PLZ,GO 9ERS

A great pick in Westbrook and Trade in Balmer. Playoffs here we come. GO NINERS!!!!!!!

Picking up a vetren like Westbrooke signals a turn in the tide for the Niners. We have all watched them struggle to shed the bloated contracts from the 90′s, we have watched them draft one great player after another, now we have a leader and we are attracting some vetrens, look out playoffs. Here come the 49ers

I wish the best of luck to the big man but no playoff appearances as long as he is in seattle or in our division. I didnt see this whole Westbrook thing coming but im glad it did, he is a talented beast and he is a winner. He can run, catch and block. Dixon can run and punish defenders but runners like that are really good for a short time. If the 1st quarter of the Colts game is any indication of what Alex Smith looks like this year we are doomed again (offense wise) i dont care who the running back is. I dont see it in Smith sorry. Now that he knows how to lead the offense in his head, it doesnt look like he can do it physically.

The Colts 1st squad dogged our 1st squad big time.

picking up westbrook will give us some experience at rb, and some leadership. as for balmer, good luck . i don’t have time to be negative about anything. it didn’t work out for him here and all we can do is focus on our team. he’s not a niner so it don’t make sense to talk b.s. on him. dixon did look good but like other people said it’s one game and it came against 2nd and 3rd stringers. but he does look like a beast. like his size and toughness.

  33. By NOF49 on Aug 17, 2010 | Reply

Well its always sad when a 49er player leaves us for talent purposes but hey… the coaches must see someone better who can do Balmer’s job. Good job to whoever was smart enough to pic up Westbrook…. experience, work horse, competition….ok minus bn injury-prone….i think hes a good pic for our system. Lets not forget bout Dixon who cleary means buisiness. I think business is A-BOOMIN in da Rb dept. GO NINERS!

Did anyone check out Shaun Hill’s stats in Detroit ? He went 9-11 and Alex Smith went 3 for 9. Alex Smith doesn’t handle any type of pressure at all. He only plays decent out of the Shotgun where he has time to throw. Shaun Hill is the man, I can’t believe we let him go to Detroit where he will never start a game again. Major Talent wasted.

Good job niners, but we need to really focus on replacing our QB. I am sorry, but Alex Smith sucks! Please find us another QB, coach Singletary!
