More Sights, More Sounds from OTAs

Posted by Taylor Price on May 24, 2010 – 1:41 PM

The 49ers hit the practice fields last week for four consecutive days of organized team activities and NinerCam was there to record the action for you, the Faithful fans of the 49ers. Although team policy prohibits us from shooting the team and 7-on-7 periods of practice, you can enjoy sights and sounds from the OTAs with plenty of action photos.

We’ll be rolling out several more “Sights to Sounds” videos all summer long, but until then, let us know what you want to see more of in the coming months!

I say this every year, but our squad is gonna put it down this season. SEAHAWKS LMAO…..will not take the division. It is ours. GO NINERS. It’s been a long losing road but I see the light on the other side

Nice video although its to bad to hear that we cant see the team practice but I can understand why. We dont want spies from division opponents to video tape what we’re doing. It looks like our team is getting along well with each other.

Other than that you guys are doing a great job covering the team. Its what I look forward to after every OTA session or training camp.

I agree with the progress of our drafts working together and with the vets we can definitely make the play offs I am worried about that Alex Smith. He is not reliable to me but we will have to learn the hard way with that guy I sure hopes he proves me wrong because I think we need a mobile quarterback that can create a play under pressure when a play call craps the bed. In my opinion we should have tooken Micheal Vick when we had the chance. Imagine how dangerous he would be with recievers and a running along with his many talents. We would be looking at nonthing less than a NFC Championship instead of a wild card play off spot this year. I say our record this year will put us in 9-7 to finish the season and a shot at the playoffs. Given Alex Smith does his job

I’d like to see how the receivers are doing catching the ball whether it is from the quarterbacks or kickis. Also their quickness!

I have been a 49er faithful all my life. I witness the “Catch” and then the Young years…. now after almost a decade i believe we have a team that can push deep into the playoffs. Mike Singletary thankyou. Finally a coach that brings out the best in players like Bill Walsh did. I Believe.

    James,

Thanks for the input. In case you missed it, we sat down with Michael prior to the 2010 draft for a lengthy interview. It recaps his draft memories and his rookie year with the team. I’m tired of hearing Alex Smith get bashed! That young man has had to deal with a new offensive coordinator every year he has been a professional. He has also had to work behind a make-shift offensive line. In addition his receiving group hasn’t been the elite of the NFL.
However, those woful days are in the past. What I see now is a team that is in position to make some serious noise in the post season. There is stability in the coaching staff, the defense proved itself to be stellar last year, the receivers on board now are a real treat, Frank Gore is Frank Gore, and the offensive line has some real muscle if our two rookie additions can step in and solidify that group.
The pieces are all there, and Alex Smith is one of those vital pieces. He has mobility, arm strength, experience, and intelligence. Have faith faithful, we have our quarterback of the future and our future is now.

i just got to say that all you niner fanz need to understand alex smith was chosen over aaron rodgers for a reason. he really was the better qb and still is. he was thrown into the wolves at age 20 and aaron had a chance to learn from the best. but that dont even matter cuz now alex will prove why he was #1 overall. I cant wait!!!!!!

    2) how much food/drink is consumed by players
    3) clips from the annual rookie show (including last year’s video of jean-francois’ dance off moves)
    4) more JOE SHOW!

i’d like to c,…hear rather, more dialogue btwn team mates…nothing in terms of playcalling or game plan of course, but an NFL films type , somewhat humorous compilation of team mates out there putting in work togethr…evry fan enjoys being able to hear how professional athletes interact with each other..so my suggestion is less foreground music, and a more personal look into the personalities of the people we have grown to love as coaches and athletes…surely there’s more to them than freeze frames and the RED n GOLD

Good job Coach with all that you have done to the organization, and though I understand that it is a team effort throughout the organization but you always need the foundation to build around. And you have been the person, so I give my thanks to you for all that you are doing with our team….Together Everyone Accomplishes More.. TEAM
    Go Niners, Fan forever !!!!

I say this as well every year, but this year is definitely something different. When you add up all the piece niners have put together, it all adds up to the very least a division title. We’ll go to the playoffs this year, mark my words. I think realistically we can go all the way to NFC championship. The fan in me says we can beat any team including Indi.

I say get rid of Alex Smith’s sorry ass.

  31. By Brian boogie on May 25, 2010 | Reply

Everybody give Smith so much credit but thc credit goes to the defense last year without them Smith wouldnt look good. They gave him so many chances to convert. I hate when people give quarterback so much credit when it is a team effort. He is nonthing.
Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, soon to be Micheal Crabtree, and the niners defense that is what won those cames not that sorry Alex Smith you guys kill me with that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  32. By 49erfaithfulSince'88 on May 25, 2010 | Reply

Brian boogie, did you actually see the games last year? Vernon Davis made it to the pro bowl because of WHO? ALEX SMITH!!!! Look at the stats, 10 TD’s from ALEX!!

Everybody fell in love with Crabtree for what he can do. WHY? Cuz ALEX SMITH fed him the ball, they weren’t all perfect passes but it got to him, that’s a WR’s job to catch the ball no matter where it is. Thats what makes a WR so great. And Frank Gore is Frank Gore like Mr. brodie era faithful mentioned.

The Defense did what its supposed to do and that’s to give the ball back to the offense no matter how many times. Or they can score points themselves if they’re really good. Kick and punt returns is what hurt us the most. 49ers have to keep LeRoy VANN!! He’s another Devin Hester.

Judge ALEX after this season then start talking. He has everything he needs to be successful.

  33. By john madden on May 25, 2010 | Reply

Man for all you guys who say alex smith suck just be quite. He didnt have a good line, didnt have the best recievers ever and on top of that he had to learn a new playbook each year. Not even P. Manning or Tom Brady would be successful in Alex Smiths position. so give him a break. Now he has everything he can ask for so now we wil really see how good he is! but untill the end of this season keep your comments to yourself.

  34. By Brian boogie on May 26, 2010 | Reply

You can do the same thing Alex Smith can do HELL even my little nephew and throw the ball not accurately if you have recievers that can go get the ball. 88″ one thing I know is quarterbacks are over rated when they have a lot reciever to throw to further more do you think Vernon Davis cant get touchdowns with any other quarter back. are you challenging his talent, of course not. Enough said. Alex smith is nonthing

  35. By Brian boogie on May 26, 2010 | Reply

And further more 88 if you are a good quarterback you will give your defense a rest after they work hard for you. Did you look at a lot of the games. Defense even did some to the scoring and that is Alex Smiths job remember are you going to give credit for that too. LOL That is why some of the cames we lost last year. He didnt stay on the field long enough and wore our defense out and he is known under pressure to throw and pick or two. When he can simply throw the ball away. Come on man!!!

  36. By Brian boogie on May 26, 2010 | Reply

So what you are saying I told you so in advance after this season. I will give that bumb a chance. Because he is going to screw it up. There is no excuse this year for his inaccuracy inabilities to convert. Remember a quaurterbacks job is also to find a way to convert by any means necessary when a play call craps the bed. Watch the games closely this year lets see if he does that then you come talk to me

  37. By Tybolt on May 26, 2010 | Reply

One thing you need to understand is the most of the “great” qb, from the past to the present, had sat behind a “great” qb before becomeing starters…Alex Smith was thown into the mix his rookie year…he didn’t have the advatage to learn from a “great” qb.

  38. By Brian boogie on May 26, 2010 | Reply

So how long are we going to make excuses for this guy.
He is going 6 years, look at Mark Sanchez 1 year took his team to a championship, Troy Aikman, must i go on. Come on guys please wake up!!!!!!

  39. By Brian boogie on May 26, 2010 | Reply

None of those qbs had a mentor that they played behind so I will watch and if i am right after this season all of you will be apologizing. What he is doing any quarterback out there can do the same. If I am wrong then I will admit it as well. Until then, Alex Smith sucks. Another example look at Micheal Vick he was rookie maybe he isnt a true quarterback but he never had a line or recievers other than the tight end (LJ Crumpler) and he carried the team to the playoffs and to a championship game again no mentor that he played behind. My point is like I said a long time ago, as a quarterback you have to find a way to win a game whether you have a line , recievers or anything you have to make plays even when the coach staff play calls crap the bed. That is a true leader and in my opinion guys he has had plenty of time to learn that.

  40. By Tybolt on May 26, 2010 | Reply

When you talk about Micheal Vick if you rememvber that year it was only him and his tight end that ranks any real stats…And also Micheal Vick is in a league to him self…that man was so mobile form playing a running back for most of his college years…all the other teams have never had to worry about the qd running like Vick does…the following year the other team knew and ws able to stop him and they didn’t make it very far in that following year…when Smith first started he had no one really to throw too because anybody worth throw to were double covered and no qb would throw into double coverage if he had any other options.

  41. By tru49erfan on May 26, 2010 | Reply

everybody needs to stop raggin on alex smith. This guy has had to go thru much adversity and hes still here being a real professional even with a pay cut. Any true football fan knows that being thrown into a team with a bad o-line, sketchy receivers, and not to mention 5 DIFFERENT offensive coordinators stunts the overall growth of ANY qb. We finally have a solid team worthy of a good playoff run and hopefully more. 49er fans stay true to ur team

  42. By Brodie era faithful on May 26, 2010 | Reply

Brian boogie, your not being consistent in your commentary. One the one hand you state the qb position is over rated and then you tout Sanchez, Aikman, and Vick as quarterbacks that carried their teams into the playoffs. Which is it, just another position or is it the only position that matters?
When you have come to a definitive decision on that let us know, then we can debate the value of Alex Smith.

  43. By Brian boogie on May 27, 2010 | Reply

If you were reading before my comment smarty pants brodie era faithful, the person before that said each rookie qb that was great played behind a veteran qb that was great and they learned from them before they had there chance and I said the quarterbacks listed didnt have that and look at them they are playing their role in helping the teams progress, now the person was saying Alex Smith never had that chance to get any guidance. Well look at all these rookie qbs that are doing better than him. Furthermore when you say all Vick had was a tight end, so did Alex Smith he had vernon davis and still nothing my point, FIGURE A WAY TO WIN A GAME INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING!!!!!!!THAT IS THE TRUE ROLE OF A QUATERBACK. ANOTHR EXAMPLE DONOVAN MCNABB, BEFORE TERRELL OWENS AND DESHAUN JACKSON HE NEVER HAD RECIEVERS BUT THE TEAM STILL STAYED AT LEAST A PLAY OFF OR CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITOR AND DO YOU KNOW WHY BECAUSE HE FOUND A WAY TO WIN!!!! NOW LETS TALK ABOUT THIS DEBATE ON ALEX!!!

  44. By Brian boogie on May 27, 2010 | Reply

We need another Steve Young now in my opinion he was the greatess QB we ever had. Imagine if he played instead of Montana all those years what kind of records he would have broken. We need to clone him and use him as our QB LOL

  45. By Brian boogie on May 27, 2010 | Reply

If you guys think Alex Smith is so good trade him and see how many teams would want him. He wouldnt even start. LOL That why he negotiated his huge contract because he knew that nobody would take him. Yeah do you guys got an answer for that.

  46. By William Crews on May 27, 2010 | Reply

this is gonna be a good year for us defense gotta stay solid and not give up big plays and we should be good and offense control the clock with are 2 first round draft picks blockin for gore

good stuff i predict big things this season 11-5 or 12-4 go big or go home

  48. By 49ermarc on May 27, 2010 | Reply

Brian boogie, you need to lay off the cartoons man. There is no one man team! Steve Young had a Montana super bowl winning team developed already, but Young added something different to the offense–mobility. There will be no other young or montana so drink your bottle, suck your thumb and go to sleep. It will be better tommorow I promise;)

  49. By 49ermarc on May 27, 2010 | Reply

49ers will be the team to beat this season. If Alex brings to the table for what he actually was intended for, then the niners will dominate. 49er domination is what is all about!

  50. By Brodie era faithful on May 28, 2010 | Reply

Brian boogie, I agree with you that Steve Young is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game. He left everything on the field and we were blessed to have gotten him from the Tampa Bay Bucs. After two years with them going 3 and 16 as a starter, throwing 11 TDs and 21 picks they considered him a bust. He was great player on a bad team. Without the tools not even the greatest qb can win. I’m not saying Alex Smith is Steve Young, but I believe he deserves the opportunity to show what he can do with a good team, which he has not had up until now. One other point; this team is being built to smash the ball down the defense’s throat. Alex Smith is not going to have to carry this team.

so I expect a division championship in 2010, and nothing less!

Im really excited about this year, I think Smith will be good, our line will be good, are recievers will be good and our running game will be good. I love our linebackers, and safeties. Im a little worried about the end spot opposite Justin Smith, and I wish we had some more depth at DT. However my only real concern is our corners. Spencer and Clements can cover any possession reciever, but when theyre playing the faster guys I get a liittle worried. We got passed on a lot deep last year. Mays should help with that. Keep working hard, We are playoff bound this year!

alex smith will have a break out year. i read all these comments stating he sucks and what not. and my only debate on that is. he’s pretty much been a rookie qb for all his time in the nfl with new offensive schemes every year. yeah there has been rookie qbs that have done good but what are the odds man? how many rookies havent done anything compared to those who have? alex is in his offense now and will florish. and go back and look at sanchez’s numbers he didnt lead the jets to the afc championship his running game did. and their d scored more points than their offense did. so booger boy shut up and go back to the cowgirls! the niners are better without your negativity
