LETS MAKE SOME SMART CHOICES GOTTA BE HONEST IF A QB IS AVAILABLE AT PICK 13 LIKE COLT MCCOY WE BETTER SIGN HIM QUICK ALEX SMITH IS NOT A FRANCHISE QB…..

  3. By JAMES on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

PLEASE DO NOT PICK JIMMY CLAUSEN.. PLEASE HE’S ANOTHER ALEX SMITH.. WE NEED AND OT. OR DEZ BRYANT ANOTHER WIDE RECEIVER. OR LET’S TRADE UP SO WE CAN GET BIG BEN

    Go niners

  5. By Mark Wilson on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

I have had a bold pick all month The 49ers are throwing rumors of Clausen out there but he is just a red herring. I think they are fooling everyone. Niners trade up with the redskins at pick number 4 and nab Eric Barry redskins will aquire our picks in exchange.

  6. By Chris Valima on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

Mark…Too many needs to trade both first for E. Berry. This draft is full of talent and we need to keep our picks and maybe accumulate more.

I have been a fan for 15 years an I wish that we had our old owner back an also we need to pick a QUARTER BACK THIS YEAR BECAUSE OURS SUCK BOTH OF THEM if all the fans can see it but not the coaches something is wron we also need corner backs an a offensive line but most of all a QUARTER BACK. Make the right call

  8. By Dan on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

13 and 17 are very good picks and we should get what we need. Stay the course, no fantasies!!!

  9. By Sabian on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

The team needs to stand pat and pick two quality players that can contribute this year. OL and Safety help are a necessity. Why not see if Earl Thomas falls to 13 which is likely and take the best availble at 17.

  10. By Weston Smith on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

I sincerely hope the 9ers do not pick Clausen…Although unconventional, lets build our team away from the QB position by continuing a string of solid draft choices over the past 3-4 seasons (pre Alex, although I am routing for him!!!)…Lets address the need at OT or the defensive backfield even though they aren’t the “sexiest” of picks with two picks early in the 1st round. If we are looking to slide up the board I only want to see Berry or Thomas’s names called (sorry Dashon but these boys can play!)…Cross your fingers 49ers fans and hope with two picks early on and with 8 overall we can add some immediate help and bring on solid football players…Go 49ers!!!!!

  11. By Rob on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

I think the 49ers should hang on to their picks in the 1st round and see if Eric berry, Joe Haden or Earl Thomas falls to them at 13. They can address their OT need at 17. There is talk about Clausen but I’d rather see them trade their second round pick packaged with another pick to move up in the 2nd to get Colt McCoy.

  12. By Weston Smith on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

one final comment…I think the (or I guess I am hoping) that the 49ers expressed interest in jimmy Clausen is all smoke and mirrors, in hopes that if he slips to our 13th or 17th pick that teams will want to trade up and we can slide back to pick up an extra pick or two in the draft…It is a very deep talent pool this year.

  13. By BEUNCO BROWN on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

WE NEED TO TRADE RAVENS FOR GAITHER THEN GET CORNER AND NEXT BEST PLAYER ON BOARD LINE WOULD HVE SYNDER AND SIMMS AS BACK UPS WIN FOR YEARS

  14. By Terrell on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

Two players can take this team to the superbowl neat year. Colt McCoy and Dez Bryant. Those should be the two first picks. And the Niners still could get two very good linemen in the 3rd and 4th in Ciron Black from LSU and Jerry Perry from Ole Miss. The Niners need an accurate quarterback who is a winner. And McCoy was the best ever to have played in college football at both. 45 wins and 70.6 completion percentage are his stats over 4 years not two good ones. Colt McCoy is this teams version of Montana. And Dez and Crabtree would be like Rice and Taylor with Ginn as a slot and Vernon. Unstopable offense.

I think we can all agree that we have used up all our Notre DAme Qb luck. I agree with wild Bill. Don’t get Clausen we’ve already got Alex smith to nurse

Niner must start with a great line if we want a dynasty u can’t do nothing if u have no hole to run through and no time to throw the ball….so lets pick up those line man big one hope fully go niners lets get back to the gold rush days…….

  17. By Greg on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

I hope the niners pick an OT, the pick a runningback like spiller if avaviable, if they pick a QB, then pick COLT Mc COY

We need an O-Line! I would love to see Bulaga or Iupati in red and gold! This is our year! The way the west is won!

No clausen,No Big Ben.Nate Davis is being groomed and his great talent is all we need for the great future ahead !

  20. By Paul on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

Please No Clausen, we got Alex Smith lets make him better take a Lineman in the first and Tebow if he is still available in the second groom him. Hes a smart athletic lefty……Hello Steve Young!

  21. By DoN on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

I know this is a stretch but i like to just play with my imagination. Although I am a huge fan of Nate Davis, I say the 9ers trade him and next years 2nd round pick for Big Ben because he is a proven SB winning quaterback who still has 6-8 years in him. Nate davis still needs to touch a Football in a regular season game. Then in our draft if they are there at our picks get Anthony davis and Joe Haden with our 1st round picks, Jahvid Best in the 2nd, Jordan Shipley in the 3rd, and Syd’Quan Thompson in the 4th. SOLID DRAFT and Super bowl team.

  22. By robert on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

I think they forget a QB in the first round an go T at 13 and at 17 they go CB if haden is there if not S if thomas will be there man. They have 3 QB’s on the roster I believe they wont get another.

  23. By David on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

@ James….Big Ben is not in the draft so dont think you can trade up to get him. Hope the 49ers get Earl Thomas as he is a big time play maker!

  24. By Mark J on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

I could not agree anymore with Tim; Nate Davis is all we need; this young man has all the star power for the future. OL tackle to protect Alex, speed at corner. We are not that far away. GO NINERS!

clausen…no. Alex is enough for this year. and coach sing will get the best out of him.

  29. By Cheeta2182 on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

to hell with Claussen or Dez Bryant or Big Ben. The NINERS need to pick Tim Tebow. He has proven himself in the College Ranks and he can do it in the NFL. Alex Smith has to go. He had how many years to prove himself and failed. GET RID OF ALEX SMITH

we can trade for marshaun lynch… give them a 5th rounder???

  35. By jason on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

The niners do need o line help as well as defense, so Lupati with 13 and then a CB with 17, second round should be WR then go get more defense like a safety and a defensive end. Maybe get a QB, but not a need this year maybe next!

Good job on getting some O Line support. Somehow we need to leverage our picks & get McCoy while not wasting the “value” of whatever we do to get him.

  45. By eldonoso on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

Think he would have been there at 13. Think this shows front office inexperience.
    Good Pick Though.

well lets see if mccoy is aruond at 49 pick

  55. By Southmacs on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

Great first day for the 49ers! We had huge O-line holes that were properly filled. This will improve our running game that will take some pressure off of Alex. Not yet sold on Alex as the SB QB, but I have seen worse QB’s in the superbowl. Now we need Defensive line help and secondary help. I am glad we got Ginn from Miami as this helps out our return game holes. This appears to be a great off season for he 49ers!!!!

  56. By cody on Apr 22, 2010 | Reply

sooo glad they used the 1st round to strengthen the o line. now we need a corner and a safety but we started this draft off perfectly keep it up coach sing GO NINERS!!!!!

  57. By john saltiban on Apr 23, 2010 | Reply

GREAT FIRST ROUND LOVE THE PICKS . I SAY WE GO GET TAYLOR MAYS IN DA 2ND TRADE UP IF NEED TOO. ALSO MAYBE B. SPIKES IN DA 3RD NO MATTER WAT JUST GET 1 OF THESE GUYS AND IM COOL. MORE LEANING TOWARDS MAYS HE COULD START RIGHT AWAY AND HES A HEAVY HITTER, HES A SINGLETARY KIND OF GUY. WE COULD USE HIS SPEED AND GROOM HIM 2 BE BETTER AT COVERAGE. SO LETS GO GET THE BEAST AND ALL U NINER FANS DOGGIN ON A.SMITH SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES FOR IT NOT HES FAULT THE TEAM DID NOT BUILD FROM THE INSIDE OUT. THGE FIRST THING WE SHOULD HAVE DONE WAS GET OUR COACHES ALL LOCKED UP WHEN WE DRAFTED SMITH FOR WE WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE AHEAD OF THE GAME HAD WE HAD A STRONG COACHING STAFF THAT COULD STICK TOGETHER. I SAY I SEEN ALOT OF IMPROVEMENT LAST YEAR AND IF UR A TRUE NINER FAN AND WATCH EVERY GAME LIKE I DID THEN YOU WOULD HAVE SEEN THAT HES MOVING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. IM KINDA EXCITED TO SEE WAT HE CAN DO THIS YEAR. THEN JUDGE HIM AT THE END OF THE YEAR. THERE WILL BE NO EXCUSES THIS YEAR THE PIECES ARE ALL IN PLACE.

wee need to trade our second round pick for next year number one pick or trade up because taylor an mccoy will be gone wen we pick

alex has no excuse now if he could limit those picks wee will be cool

  60. By Douglas on Apr 23, 2010 | Reply

Was really surprised that we took 2 OL in the first round. I think we need to pick up a secondary or another WR. Was hoping for Joe Hangen but we should be alot better off down the road with OL.

  61. By Lott 42 "Simply the Best Ever!" on Apr 23, 2010 | Reply

Great first round. Now we another Big Play guy. Not a QB!!!!! Nate Davis needs to get a chance if Alex fails. I would love to take Golden Tate. I’m not a ND fan but Golden Tate would be a great compliment to Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree, and Frank Gore.

  62. By Hutch on Apr 23, 2010 | Reply

We need Colt Mccoy to bring some competition and maybe take over as our franchise QB!! He is accurate and a proven winner!!

  63. By RJ on Apr 23, 2010 | Reply

Very happy with the 2 first round picks and the Taylor Mays pick was perfect. Great job guys!

  64. By leatherneck on Apr 23, 2010 | Reply

First we sacrifice a forth round pick when we didn’t have to and then we pass on Colt McCoy in the third round.
I give our trade up to get Davis a D and our passing of Colt McCoy an F. I would have picked Earl Thomas and Bryan Bulaga with our first round picks. Then I would have taken Everson Griffen DE with our second, then Colt McCoy with our third.

  65. By kstokes on Apr 23, 2010 | Reply

We could have gotten Colt McCoy in the 3rd round!! I don’t understand the pickup of Navorro Bowman who may not even see the field at OLB. Get a QB to compete with Alex Smith At least with Colt you have a proven winner

  66. By g2 on Apr 23, 2010 | Reply

Seriously, Im wondering if some of you have ever watched football. Colt McCoy in the first? Trade both picks for Eric Berry? Take Jimmy Clausen cause “Alex Smith Sucks”…..I mean really? Go root for Seattle or something. With their first 3 picks San Fran just made their O-Line beastly for the next few years. Then we get Mays in the second round. I mean really did you think we would trade every pick we have for the first 3 picks? This isnt Madden kiddies, we’re not getting Bradford, Berry and Trent Williams.

  67. By RJ on Apr 24, 2010 | Reply

50 years ago San Francisco had a great, exciting Center Fielder named Mays. Glad to see we got another one! Go Niners!

  68. By oldguy on Apr 24, 2010 | Reply

great draft o line finally stable we hope,i like mays i only hope he turns better than the last time we drafted a safety that high remember #28 no names please. the puzzle seems to be complete. if only we could come up with a top notch pass rusher. as for alex this is his time to shine if not great qb draft next year.

  69. By st louis 49er fan on Apr 25, 2010 | Reply

It’s so good to see my team FINALLY beef up and solidify their O-line. Could they have drafted a QB? Maybe. But it’s time to see if Alex and get it done or head in another direction after 2010. I am glad they got a big back, this 240 pounder. We love Frank but he ain’t getting any younger. Plus, it will take some pressure off of Alex.I am far from sold on Glenn Coffey. We are so close to competing for a NFC West title and beyond. LET”S GO NINERS!

  70. By Whitey Dee on Apr 26, 2010 | Reply

IDK if 9ers could have gotten more value out of there draft then they did… 1st round really shut the critics down… 2nd round they got a Safety that ran a 4.31 to 4.37 at his pro-day… combine that backfield with Goldson’s speed…. Fastest/ Biggest hitters in league…. The LB bowman was a steal couldn’t pass up/ and Takeo is getting older. Then grabbing RB Anthony from Miss. st in 6th round??!! wow.. he was 5th best back in draft, and a serious NFL style runner… He is a Bettis type rb that can really wear a D down helping Gore to last a whole season and keep him fresh…. 9ers!!!!!!!!!! given them serious props.

  71. By Hermie on Apr 26, 2010 | Reply

I also think this was one of the better drafts for the 9ers in a long time. What instant depth to the O-line if one or the other doesn’t start right away! Alex will have no more excuses as I would expect protection, run support and the quality receivers, including TE he has now, what 5 years in the league and “finally” a seond year with the same offensive coordinator…Let’s hope!! With regard to the “D” a center fielder who can cover sideline to sideline that can add to stopping the run!! Awesome for the 9ers if just those 3 pane out!! Been a long time since I have been this excited about a season!!
