i like j potters idea,i think we should take a OT(williams) with the top pick and go after a saftey/corner (cox, berry, haden, taylor)i think we should go after a KR/PR specialist and a WR in rounds 2and 3.either or ,i say best player on board.dont go after CJ Spiller,i think he is overrated and can get good RB late in draft.we also need to sign a already developed G to help bolster the OL.if we make these moves i think we will sit right where we want to for a big playoff push next year.I also think getting shipley in 4th round will be a steal.I think he will be a great slot type of player like stokley was.i did see 3or 4 games in texas last year that without him they might not have one them.go 9ers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dumb.. Hill gave us 157 yards a game compared to Smith's 214 yards per game. Slight difference and get to know a playbook??? Ok go to work and have your boss to tell you one way to do it successfully. Now have your boss tell you a completely different way to do each day for five days. You think you'll be able to be on the same page with your boss each day?? Or be successfull after the 5th day?? NO and thats why consistency is so important to an NFL quarterback and his O Coordinator, luckily ours is coming back for a 2nd season so I think Alex Smith's chances will greatly improve. He's a little more mobile than Hill and at least right now gives us a better chance to win.

are you kidding me? why would you move nate from corner to free safety? specially when we have a great free safety in dashon goldson? where will he go? he not fast enough to play corner an not strong enough against the run to play strong safety. nate may be gettin old but look at the other side. we have to corners well into their age in dre bly an walt harris. dont get me wrong they are both playmakers but age slows everyone down. an wat about shawntae spencer? he a great nickelback. why not try him out as a startin weakside corner. what the niners really need is offensive line help an a return man. i would like to see shipley or gilyard in a niners outfit. they help out the depth at wideout an covers kick an return duties. there no reason to change a defense that at the beginning of the year was ranked in the top 10 before injuries took effect. alex smith isnt the QB of the future draft colt mccoy an let him an nate davis battle out the startin position. we dont need spiller because we have 2 VERY good runningback in frank gore an glen coffee. what we really need is to solidify the defensive an offensive side an finding someone to take over return duties.

Dear Laura, reading all your comments were very commical and not at all intelligent. Its like you read the i hate 49er newspaper and just quoted it. Your mad Because Alex lost to philly, indy, minnesota and GB all by under a touch down minus philly and if you know anything about football you will notice they were all playoff teams and houston was just outside the playoff door and we lost by 3. We were in all of those games so yes I too blame play calling but OC calls the plays not Samurai Mike. He is a great coach and every player will say that, not many teams have a coach the players feel the way they do for Singletary.
So enough bashing on Laura’s lost intelligence. We need to keep our 2 1st rd picks and take OT with 13th on Trent Williams or take Spiller here if we think Williams will fall to 17th or if we feel strongly about Bruce Campbell Or take Best OT at 13th and Guard Iupati at 17th, CB in 2nd round and hope Shipley falls to us in 3rd we need somone who can return and fill another need at same time. Arnaz Battle lead the league in specialty fumbles!! That was huge cost us in the seattle game and almost cost us the monday night game against the cards. Spiller and Shipley wud fill that need which is a big need it just depends on if the gamble is worth waiting to get shipley. Taking Oline first rd makes everyone on offense immediately better without haveing to upgrade just one position he makes Davis, Crabtree, Gore, Smith and everyone on offense immediately better.

I think Drafting an OL is not the answer, they should sign an impact player from the free agency. OL needs to learn the systems, etc.etc.

niners need to draft a pass rush players. if they can trade their 2 first round pick for suh or mccoy. also it will be better to pursue kapman or pepper.
this will give niners the possibility to reach the playoff or win the division.

Thanks

Man, what we need is a sturdy offensive lineman that can help us out on the right side. Staley does a good job but he needs help on the other side, I remember watching us play and it was visibly obvious how much more time the other teams would have to throw the ball. Like the eagles game. We have all of this talent on our offense, but just not enough time to get it to one of them. I think a good move would definitely be an OL like Iupati or something, and next grab a speedy safety to help out Goldson so we wont get burned deep. Our CB's are improving a lot and with Clements coming back I think our defense will be o.k. Afterward we should sign a good returner from the free agency. I used to DREAD watching Arnaz battle wave off every punt all the time because he didnt know how to return the ball. It was hard to watch. Anyways, other than that Im behind this team all the way no matter what we do and I'm excited for our huge playoff maybe superbowl run! GO 49ERS!!!!!

Hey Laura let me just say it's nice to see someone on this blog pose a well thought out argument for what a team should do with it's players. All be it completely wrong and for the most part unfair for the players mentioned.

First of all I would just like to ask you to name one, just one quarterback in league history who has come into a team that had no play makers for the first three years, no head coach with any experience, and five different offensive coordinators and had a successful career.

Second Shawn Hill, yes while I love his grit and determination he is not a NFL quarterback. He does not have the arm to really compete in this league.

Third Nate Davis looked great against the worst the NFL had to offer. Any average quarterback will look like the next superstar in the forth quarter of a preseason game. So lets not put to much stock into a guy who has no real NFL experience.

Forth and this was one I was really upset with. The last thing we need to do is buy another super bowl. Lets face it we bought our last super bowl victory and it sent us into the most horrible financial down turn in league history. If you remember after super bowl 29 the team could'nt bring in talent if they wanted to and even after we got rid of all the talent we had we still had to pay them after they were gone. So the thought of going out on what could be an uncapped year and spending our self into oblivion just so we loose everything when the cap is reinstated is just plain ignorance.

Finally I'll say yes Scott and Coach Sing may be inexperienced but they are rebuilding this team the right way. It is more time consuming but it's the right thing to do. Be patient and you will see the return of the once proud dynasty for years to come.
