the 49ers need to sign L.T! It would take the presure off frank gore and it would be a great block back and reciving threat. Put Frank Gore and L.T in the back feild together with alex smith in shotgun and you will atleast make it to the playoffs.

I love the draft and everything that leads up to it. I love watching the combine and love getting updates on prospects weights, 40 times, bench reps and verticals. Go Niners

Best available player at the time, regardless of position.
That’s what Singletary will want to do.

I think you guys should go to the combine looking for some wr’s dlinemen and maybe a qb who can start in 2 or 3 years because those are some of our biggest needs

Need a QB and a safety!!! A QB to sit for a year and safety to play and make plays now!!! We have 2 picks in the 1st round….but, they are in the middle of the 1st round!!! SO, I would take them and trade up to the 1st 3rd pick and select Jimmy Clausen and pick a safety in the 3rd round!!! OR, wait until the 13th pick and hope that Sam Bradford is there and select an Taylor Mays with the 16th pick!!!! I would also sign a CB in free agency along with an RT!!! That’s about it cuz our team is right on the verge of becoming something!!! Alex Smith proved alot last year. He just needs a puch start cuz all this team needs is a QB and we are superbowl bound!!!

We need one for the O-Line, A Pass Rusher for the D-Line, CB/DB and a SPEEDY reciever to complement Crabtree, PR/KR as well. Feeling really good about the upcoming season!

We are very close to becoming a legit playoff team. I think that this years draft is going to be pivotal to our success. We need to add depth and step up our special teams unit. The draft will provide that for us. I hope that we can get a couple proven NFL caliber players through free agency (RT mainly) and let the young guys learn under our coaches and players. Dont see the rookies making that much of a contribution as STARTERS this year (maybe a kick/punt returner, or a corner). The combine will show the coaches who may fit out scheme going forward. GO NINERS!

The 49ers should make a push for Dunta Robinson. If they pick up a Safety like Earl Thomas or Taylor Mays in the Draft, the secondary would be set and dominate for a time to come.

    I think the 49ers need CB, T, QB,OLB, KR

We are just 1 great rush passer away from been a top 3 defense imo. Our current rushers are solid but are not in the same caliber or somewhat close to the consistent level seen in players like D Ware, J Allen, Freeney, Peppers, etc.

Every coach/player that really understands how great defenses work will tell you that sacking/hurrying the quarterback is KEY to having a top rated D.

C’mon Niners! lets get our Star rusher and become the dominant team we used to be!

Our last great draft was the year we grabbed Staley & PWillis. I believe we’re on the verge of becoming a playoff team, better yet, a contender. This is were it starts! Let’s pay PWillis up & lock him up to multi-year deal but make sure you draft him a stud ILB to play next to him & take some heat off from him. We have to address our O-line and secondary but mainly we gotta’ protect #11 A. Smith back there because I truly believe this upcoming year he’s gonna’ show up everyone that has been calling him a bust!!! GO NINGERS!!!

  17. By Humberto on Feb 24, 2010 | Reply

Oh, and by the way. I think aside from benching Vernon Davis last year (we all saw how that changed Davis’s attitude and allowed him to become an elite TE)Tagging Franklin is the best move that coach Sing has done. Franklin is probaly the most underrated player at his position in the NFL; NT is not an easy job and he proved all season long that he can play at the highest level.

I believe we are headed into the right direction. We lost five games within five points or less. We finished with a rtecord of 8-8. For us to get over that hump we need to take advantage in this draft and free agency. I believe we can take care of our Offensive line issues during free agency, Hopefully we can land a muliti threat like Josh Cribbs that will help out in field position. We could use a prolific pass rusher as well like a J.Peppers to take our def to another level. In this draft we need SPEED SPEED SPEED. We had a chance to pick up Deshaun Jackson twice two years ago. We need speed on the offensive side of the ball. Names that come to mind is D.J Spiller Clemson (RB, KR) Marty Guorade CIN (WR, KR, PR) Tate, NOrte Dame (WR)

We’re not going to make a big splash at FA and I don’t think we need to. Unlike previous years without a cap next season it’d be hard pressed for teams to let go of key players that could be an immediate impact.

Also I think that there are players that could make an immediate impact out of this years draft like CJ Spiller who we’re rumored to try and get at #13 who could fill the needs at KR/PR while adding a dynamic weapon on offense. Me personally the best news I’ve heard is taking Trent Williams out of OU to fill our RT need and then swooping up my hometown hero Taylor Mays to give Goldshon some help in the secondary while adding size and speed.

O-LINE MAKES THE OFFENSE GO!!! WE NEED TO MAKE HOLES FOR THE RUNNING GAME AND PASS BLOCK FOR THE PASSING GAME. THEN GO BEST AVAILABE PLAYERS.

  21. By Afrothunda08 on Feb 24, 2010 | Reply

As long as we help out our secondary and beef up our O-line just a little bit more, we’re talking an 8-8 season to a 10+ win season. Gore needs to stay healthy, and defense keep doin what youre doin, just dont let up so many big pass plays. I’d be happy with Earl Thomas as our first pick.

  22. By jjacko91 on Feb 24, 2010 | Reply

next season will be winning one. Our home schedule are all winable GAMES!!! we just need an elusive special teams return man and another big man on o-line and I beleive we can get that with this upcoming draft!!! 49ers will be NFC west champs next season… I GAURANTEE IT

  23. By Bobo707 on Feb 24, 2010 | Reply

i think we should use draft to add depth to o-line or go after a strong saftey or pass rusher superbowl 2010

  24. By Biz on Feb 24, 2010 | Reply

I think this year’s draft is loaded because players are afraid of the future threat of a rookie salary cap.

Having said that, we should look at ways to increase the number of second or first round choices we have. I think if we can increase our 2nd round choices by trading down in the first round (and pick Iutapi) or by trading 3 and fourth round choices (tihs year and next) to gain another 2nd rounder (ILB (Spikes or Washington) or safety (Nate Allen or Chad Jones).

1st round possibilities – if McClain, Haden, Bradford, or Berry
is there at our first pick we need to take
    them despite needing a OL
    – Otherwise we need to pick an OT first pick
    – Okung, Anthony Davis, Bulaga are the best
    – second pick we should consider
    – Earl Thomas, Brian Price, or Carlos Dunlap (pending interviews)

I think we should spend our FA money on a safety, OT, or DE and this would free up our first round in the draft. It appears like their will be 2 or 3 legitimate possibilities (Rolle, ). Also we shoud look at a right DE that can get to the passer…

BTW – is it too late to trade Balmer for a 3rd or 2nd rounder????

our number one need this year, since we have two number one draft picks, is at right tackle, a PR- KR. With draft picks two through four, we should concentrate on a speedy wide receiver, defensive linebackers, safety, right defensive end. These could be players that put us over the top. The 49ers are on the threshold of advancing to the playoffs this year. You’re very close last year. Good Luck

    Go 49ers

The off season is a funny thing because there are so many moving parts. I don’t envy the GM and Coach Singletary’s job. There are several interesting free agents out on the market….with Julius Peppers and LT, both would be great additions and would fill needs. LT would be an awesome compliment to Frank, and Julius would give us that much needed pash rush as a 3-4 LB. With that said, I believe the draft should be focused on picking up a couple of good, sturdy offensive linemen. The only other type of player I would love to see drafted would be that X-factor player. The guys that stick out to me are Dexter McCluster and Jordan Shipley. Dexter could be that great change of pace RB….or even a slot reciever. Jordan, well, Jordan is this draft class’s version of Wes Welker. Those are the thoughts of an idiot fan…

WHY DON’T SF PUT HEITMANN BACK TO LEFT GUARD, WALLACE TO CENTER, BAAS TO RIGHT GUARD, RACHAL AT RIGHT TACKLE. THAT’S PRIOR TO THE DRAFT, THIS WAY WHOEVER THEY PICK-UP IN TRADE, FREE AGENCY, OR THE DRAFT IS ALL GRATIS. HEITMANN ALMOST MADE THE PRO BOWL AS A GUARD. IT’S SAD, SAN FRANCISCO INVENTED THE ”SHOTGUN OFFENSE” AND CAN’T RUN IT WORTH A CRAP. JED YORK, OR MCCLOUGHAN OUGHT TO GO INTO THE [49ERS ARCHIVES] AND FIND ” RED HICKEY’S” OLD ”SHOTGUN PLAYS, RUN BY BILLY KILMER, BOB WATERS, AND JOHN BRODIE. J.D. SMITH RAN OVER 1000 YRDS IN IT, AND I’M SERIOUS AS A HEART ATTACK.

Get Lupati!!!! CJ Spiller is a best in the return game and eventually will get PT behind Gore. Please dont draft Mays!!! The dude cant cover the players in the NFL unless he is moved to LB. We need a Hard hitting Strong Safety that can cover too. And layoff Goldson he is a beast!!! And last but not least draft the LB from Bama……

The Niners really are in need of a QB and a CB. The QB situation is just out of control with Alex Smith, hes a bust but would make a great backup he just cant put up the numbers that I like. I mean how many 300 yard games did he get last year, EXACTLY. So I am so for getting a QB in FA, Would it not be AWESOME to get someone like micheal vick or even marc burlger that might be available. The niners are so close to making the playoffs and so believe in them doing it next year. oh yeah and the draft lets get a CB or a DE in there. GO FORTY NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we clearly improve last year, but we lost a couple crutial games because of mistake on punt return . we need to replace allen rossum” big time “. ( against seattle).can wait for next season !!!!! go niners !!!

I think our need are RT Synder got beat all year long…then 2nd need is a safety…replace Michael Lewis and Roman! 3rd is a KR/PR/WR we need a speedy guy that can take it to the house at anytime. 4th I would say either a guard or d-line…whatever is best available. Choose smart with the best available players on the board…our D is solid. Our O-line needs much improvement for our run and pass game. Special teams needs improvement a true KR/PR. We need to address these needs in the draft or FA…Go niners!

we got nate davis as qb….. but we should pick up shaper

  41. By lind0 on Feb 25, 2010 | Reply

We should explore trading one of our first rounders for Brandon Marshall. If anyone can harness him, it’s Singletary.

Otherwise, we obviously need help on both sides of the line. We’re in great position with 2 picks in the top 16, and we’re all hoping it’s enough to push us into the playoffs this year.

The Rams are an expansion team, the Seahawks are in disarray, and the Cardinals are in trouble without Warner. After all these years, I really believe we’re about to be BACK!!!

  42. By Sergio on Feb 25, 2010 | Reply

I think we should get the best tackle at 13 and then hopefully draft Earl Thomas safety from Texas. I mean hey if the guy keeps getting compared to Ed Reed and if you see his highlights you defenitely see the Ed Reed in him so give us a player like that please… It would be nice to draft Spillier but i think we can address a kr/pr through free agency. Im from Texas and im a huge niner fan. All my buddies are Cowboys fans. Nothing would be sweeter than for Them Niners to play in Cowboy Stadium for the Super bowl. Lets Go Niners!!!!

  43. By Mando on Feb 25, 2010 | Reply

We have the team to go all the way. Alex will be fine going forward under the same system two years in a row. Our defense full of pro-bowlers, special teams we need a pr/kr (Josh Cribs). lETS CONTINUE TO DRAFT SMART….. GO NINERS!!!!

  44. By JSoliz on Feb 25, 2010 | Reply

    Check this one:

Two picks in the draft that’s awesome.

Trade up for the 3rd pick with TB for our 16th pick and our 2nd or 3rd round pick draft the great Ball Hawk Eric Berry, who has plenty of coverage skills and speed.

13th pick goes to CJ spiller gives Niners a great RB combo with Gore for power and Spiller with speed. and you also get a great return man.

or 13th pick goes to a RIGHT TACKLE, Staley is a stud, Trent Williams or Mike Iupati

that leaves a pass rusher for the 2nd or 3rd round pick.

DONE! great draft more weapons for Smith and solidifies the defense lead by PWILLIS.

    Super Bowl here we come.

ive been a 49er since 88 and i think that coach singletary has done an excellent job and created a monster defense and thats a plus and besides im a clemson fan so i want spiller!!!!! but i think you should get an safety from the texans they wouldnt have a problem with that trade besides the best team in texas is the longhorns and then get spiller and put him on kr with crabtree that would be dangerous he is fast and he catch good out the backfield come on that would be crazzy look at it from a financial standpoint u will sell tickets

  47. By 49 Rith on Feb 26, 2010 | Reply

we need to build our offense around GORE. when the team is not running the ball welll. we LOSE. we need to draft OTs. someone to create holes like larry allen use to do for gore. when gore runs well, that open up our pass plays. So draft OTs we will benefits in many ways a smith gets protection. and more open lane for gore to cruise through..

Syop saying LT to the niners is a good fit, LT is no longer a change of pace back. This is not lt from three years ago people. I bet Gore is faster than LT these days anyway.

    C. J. Spiller would not only add excitement in the return game, he would also add excitement for our passing and running game as welll. I agree, he would be worth the 13th overall pick.
